This sandwich is available at The Big Rinkowski - whether you call it Taylor Ham or Pork Roll… it’s delicious!
Here it is, the sandwich that started a thousand arguments and ended a few friendships. 🥪 Same pink slab, same folded egg, same melted American on a Kaiser, but whether you call it pork roll or Taylor ham says more about where you grew up than your own zip code does.
Draw a line somewhere around Trenton and the whole state changes its vocabulary. North Jersey swears it is Taylor ham because that is the brand grandma always bought. South Jersey knows in its bones it is pork roll. Nobody is switching sides, and honestly nobody should. 🍳
The beautiful part is that the sandwich itself is exactly the same, griddled until the edges curl, egg over medium, cheese barely melted, salt pepper ketchup on a good hard roll. It is the great Jersey unifier disguised as the great Jersey divider.
