He only recently returned to his spot on 53rd & Park after closing during the pandemic and working as a Grub Hub deliveryman. But they’re back serving some of the best falafel you’ve ever tasted!

November 14th is International Street Vendor Day - a day calling for the recognition of the contribution street vendors make to our food systems, our streetscapes and our lives, and to raise awareness about the significant challenges they face.

The market in Corona Plaza has been a key element in boosting the local economy in the former epicenter of the pandemic, where a diverse group of over 80 food and merchandise vendors have organized a thriving outdoor market, featuring Ecuadorian vendors offering dishes like papas con cuero (potatoes with pork skin), Mexican vendors selling tlayudas oaxaqueñas (pizza-like dish made with corn tortilla flatbread) and more!

🌟📣Tune in this Wednesday, August 5th to hear street vendors from across the country share their stories and demands for justice - while showing us how to make their favorite foods - picaditas, halal chicken & rice, tlayudas, and pupusas.

Street vendors are essential food workers, providing access to affordable food in many of our communities nationwide. Despite their critical role, vendors are criminalized for their work, and are currently accumulating thousands of dollars of rent debt, and excluded from COVID-19 recovery plans. Vendors nationwide have come together to make sure our voices are heard, calling for and

This is a joint effort among street vendor advocacy organizations from Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Washington D.C. in conversation with Yajaira from La Morada Restaurant, an undocumented family-owned and operated Oaxaca Restaurant in the South Bronx, NYC.

This gathering will be in Spanish with English subtitles and call-in lines for Arabic and Mandarin translations.

We're so happy for our 2019 Vendy Freshman People's Choice winner, birrialandianyc, on this major review from the The New York Times. A much-deserved 2 stars (and recognition of NYC street food)!

Birria tacos, loved in Tijuana and Instagram-famous in Los Angeles, draw crowds to a corner of Jackson Heights.

Over the past year we have surveyed 50 of our female members to learn about the challenges they face as women vendors, and what both the city and SVP can do better to serve them.

We've compiled the results into a report, which we'll be sharing via webinar on Monday, October 28th at 2 pm EST. Please join us by registering for the webinar here: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_A0SW4MovSZat3TxwdE-c0A
