Stew's Brews & Chews My name is Stewart Martin, and I am the founder of Stew's Brews & Chews. I operate a coffee roastery and cottage baking business in Goose Creek, SC.

My goal is to provide consumers a true coffee experience not found in any grocery store. My business was aptly named by my son who tied together my passions for roasting coffee and baking. The purpose of my brand is to educate my customers in coffee topics, and to provide the opportunity to experience the joy of coffee consumption. I started roasting my own coffee eleven years ago when I started q

uestioning how fresh my coffee really was. Soon after, I purchased a Whirley Pop popcorn maker, 5 lbs of green coffee beans and I turned up the heat on my gas grill. My new venture took me about 4 lbs worth of beans for me to get comfortable with the process, and I was roasting the freshest coffee for myself. My inspiration to start the business came from my former dentist after I brought her some of my coffee. She said, "If you're not selling this, you need to." My mission in this business is to educate coffee consumers to see that the caffeinated beverage they're consuming is not just coffee, but a cultivated agricultural commodity with distinct differences from another bean from another country from another farm. Likewise, my goal is to provide consumers a true coffee experience not found in any grocery store. As such, my product is unique because of its origins and the unmatched level of freshness. I sell 12-ounce bags, sampler sets of regional coffees, unique blends, single samples, blue-ribbon pound cake (I won the blue ribbon at the South Carolina State Fair in 2019 for my pound cake entry) and biscuits.

Once again, Stew's Brews & Chews will be returning to the Sea Island Farmers Market this Saturday June 6th. For those who asked, I will be bringing more of the Guatemala-Sumatra blend. I will also have the single origin Colombia, a medium roast of Brazil - Guatemala (think nutty chocolate), and I will have a few bags of decaf Sumatra (a rich, dark roast) that goes perfectly well with an evening dessert! Y'all come out and find a new sip for the upcoming week!

We were at the Sea Island Farmers Market this morning, and we had another great time! I had a delightful time visiting with some old friends and meeting some new ones. I will be back in a couple of weeks as Kristy and I make an arrangement for my upcoming schedule. When I do return, I will be bringing more dark-roasted Sumatra and the Guatemala-Sumatra blend that was such a hit! Hasta pronto!

Stew's Brews & Chews is returning to the Sea Island Farmers Market this Saturday 05/23 from 9:30 to 1:30 PM. We'll be bringing the following brews: a single origin light-medium roasted Colombian (with notes of dark chocolate, nuttiness, and vanilla), a new Brazil-Guatemala blend (notes of chocolate, nuttiness, and a slight tinge of citric brightness), our dark-roasted Sumatra (earthy and sweet notes), and we'll have a couple bags of Sumatra decaf (the same notes as the regular Sumatra, but without the kickstart). Come by and try some new sips!

I had an outstanding time at the Sea Island Farmers Market! It was such a pretty venue with lots of talented vendors. Stew's Brews & Chews will be making a debut at the Sea Island Farmers Market (2024 Academy Rd., Johns Island, SC 29455) this Saturday from 9:30-1:30 PM. We're bringing our A-game with a solid lineup: a nice medium-roasted Colombian bean (notes of dark chocolate, caramel, cherry, vanilla, and roasted almond), a medium-dark blend called Cocoa Velvet (notes of dry cherry and a sweet earthiness), and a dark-roasted Sumatra (dark chocolate, smokiness, low-acid, and full-bodied). We will also have a couple of bags of Decaf Sumatra - same notes as the regular strength, but without the jazz. Stop by, say hello and try some new sips!
