I've gotten over a thousand new faces on this page in the past 30 days 🤯 Therefore, I felt like a re-introduction is in order.
Hi!!! I'm Karina, the baker and owner of Georgetown Pie Co. Ever since I was a little girl, I loved to bake. So much so, I would knock on neighbors doors trying to sell them homemade brownies and banana bread 😅🤣 I guess the entrepreneurial spirit has always been in me. Fast forward to 16, I took culinary arts as an elective in school. Our class was small, we didn't have the amazing kitchens they have today, but oh my goodness was my teacher the best. She truly inspired and encouraged me, and I can honestly say that without her impact, I don't think I would have had the confidence to pursue this field. I have worked in kitchens for almost half my life now. (Crazy to think about!) I studied in Austin, TX and Sorrento, Italy then graduated with a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts (2017) and continued my studies in New York City thanks to the James Beard Foundation awarding me a scholarship! Those years were some of the most eye opening and formative years of my life. I became a mother in 2019 and everything changed. While I loved working in the restaurant industry (and yes, I loved it), the love I had for my baby far exceeded anything else. It is really hard to have a family working in this field, and to those who manage it, my hats off to you! Little did my husband know, him enjoying a tiny little key lime pie would give me the crazy idea to quit my job and start a micro-bakery business from home. I made and sold 100 pies during my first pop-up (which many of you were there for!!!), and the rest is history!
I am now 29 years old, wife and mother of 4, realtor, micro-bakery owner of 7 years, and now about to begin this next chapter as a Culinary Arts Teacher at the same place that I sat at 16 years old.
Welcome to my page! Happy to have you here :)
