Neli from Neli Hanna | Murals & Art came out to Island Rootz and brought this wall to LIFE! 🎨🌺🐠

Our request was pretty simple. We wanted something that represented all of Hawaiʻi, not one island over another. Neli then proposed the state fish which was PERFECT.

Then our daughter Brooklynne reminded us that each Hawaiian island has its own representative flower 🌺… and we were like, YES. THAT. 😍

This is what Neli came up with, incorporating the flowers & shells throughout the mural along with Hawaiʻi’s state fish, the humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa! 🐠🤙🏽

And because you came this far… here’s your little Hawaiʻi info reading for the day. 😎

Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa basically means “triggerfish with a snout like a pig.” 😁🐷🐠

We absolutely LOVE how it turned out. It’s colorful, it’s Hawaiʻi, and it represents the islands together , exactly what we wanted for Island Rootz. 🌺🌊

Easy-peel shrimp absolutely DRENCHED in buttery garlic + Kilauea sauce, so every nook and cranny is loaded with flavor. 🤤

And YES, you can eat the shell! We actually HIGHLY recommend it because that crispy shell is the vessel for ALLLL that garlicky, buttery, spicy onoliciousness. 🤙🏽
