After loosing 3 dogs in two years, (two of them were only 7 years old), I started doing some.. okay, a lot! Of research.
Where there was nothing scientifically stating the food to be the culprit of the cancers, there wasn’t much to ease the heart and mind to completely rule it out either.
I spent many years in animal welfare and was always an advocate of commercial dog food as it was “specifically formulated for dogs” and if you deviated from it, you’d run into deficiencies somewhere.
Well, something had to change. We just lost our German shepherd who was only 7, our Aussie was only 7, my golden retriever is 2 and if I only have 5 more years with him, I might just go crazy.. so something’s gotta give. And maybe, just maybe.. dogs lives are too short to eat processed foods 100% of the time.
Here comes the research:
So I’ve started Pup Grub using FEDIAF guidelines, human grade, fresh ingredients, cooking in my home, and delivery of a weeks worth of food for your pups weight, right to your door. It’s prepackaged specifically for you furry friend and tailored to once or twice a day feedings.
Why FEDIAF, who are they?
Here’s the breakdown:
NRC (national research council) conducts the research to see what animals need to survive, the minimum.. they don’t regulate the food but they do all the research. Then there’s AAFCO (American association for feed control officials).. they take what the NRC says and try to regulate the food companies and have the “standard” guideline. Then there’s FEDIAF. They are the European version of AAFCO, they are just more detailed. For example; FEDIAF gives minimums AND maximums whereas AAFCO only provides a minimum need percentage. FEDIAF can also be tailored more to your pups age and lifestyle. Young puppy vs older puppy, etc.
I can provide a list of ingredient’s and percentages if youd like to take it to your vet for confirmation and/or approval.
If you are interested, call or text me. I have a few recipes (beef, chicken, pork, turkey) and I’m working on a fish based one for those with protein allergies.
I’m very much looking forward to helping others and providing wholesome food!
