Check out everything we have coming up this week at The Catamount Lounge!
Thursday 8/20 (8-10 PM): Live music from Alex Parez and Brent McCoryn @ The Catamount Lounge! Bringing his signature acoustic rock style — a rich blend of Americana, Classic Rock, Pop Rock, and Old Time Country Western — Alex Robert Parez has been a staple of the DC music scene since 2006. Influenced by icons like Springsteen, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, CCR, and The Eagles, his performances are packed with heart, soul, and timeless energy. Brent McCoryn is a songwriter from Strasburg, Virginia, writing songs about the everyday heartbreaks, minor triumphs, and weird dissonances of modern life. He records under the name Draw the Back of a Cloud, making music with a rotating cast of friends and collaborators. He also occasionally fronts the rock & roll band The Wimps and plays bass in George.
Friday 8/21 (8 PM-12 AM): Karaoke with DJ Jan!
Saturday 8/22 (8-11 PM): Live music from Brent Funkhouser & Friends @ The Catamount Lounge! Brent Funkhouser’s style of achingly uplifting songwriting was born out of the river bends and mountain hollows of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. His songwriting displays influence from classics like Tom Petty, Americana contemporaries like Jason Isbell, and Texas/red dirt songsters like Turnpike Troubadours, filtered through his mountain poet voice. Not quite fitting the mold of country despite his Shenandoah drawl, Brent half-jokingly describes his music as y’alternative (or as a friend once said, “not redneck, but redneck adjacent”). In this special show, Brent will be joined by a rotating cast of talented friends on stage for a true musical extravaganza!
Sunday 8/23 (7 PM): Quizzery and Trivialities with Chris K! Our bi-monthly trivia night that will test your knowledge with eight different quiz, audio, and visual rounds. Could your team take home the coveted $20 gift card to The Catamount Lounge?? Come show us those big brains!! Hosted by Chris Christopher Allen Kenworthy.
Monday 8/24 (7-11 PM): Open Mic Night! Come share your music, your jokes, your poems, your magic...all performance arts welcome! If you can perform it in 15 minutes, we want to see it. Sign up goes out at 6 PM (performers must sign up in person - we recommend signing up early to get a slot!), performances start at 7. Hosted by George Peters.
