We finally made it to gogo gumbo! to review their Shrimp and Grits. I have been here before but had not provided a review. So.... here we go!
We arrived at 8:30 when they close at 9. Though it was close to closing time, they were super cool with seating us (just a party of 3). I generally hate walking into a restaurant 30 minutes before closing. Thank you for accommodating us!
Shalin and I started with an order of the tempura fried green beans. They are served with a ravh that I THINK is a jalapeño ranch. I forgot to ask. I remember asking a previous time and just do not remember. The green beans are delicious and a huge portion to share with the entire table. There is no description of the appetizer really so no way of knowing what that ranch is.
The main dish...
Menu: shrimp & grits with pico de gallo and white wine butter
Price: $20
Review:
My first thought was that there just wasn't any color on the shrimp. Based on other pictures of other dishes they advertise on their Facebook, I expected grilled shrimp. These appeared to just be sauteed and just didn't have any color nor flavor. There is a decent amount of shrimp to the portion of grits, which I do appreciate. And.. No Tails!!! Lol
Honestly, I could not tell if there was a sauce on the grits or not. If so, it blended in. I do think there was one, which would be the white wine butter.
Update: looking back at the pictures, there definitely is a white sauce.
The pico de gallo was already mixed into the grits and honestly, there was not much of it. Not enough to deserve a call out on the menu.
Flavor - there was great flavor with the grits. Consistency- meh. I felt they were a little runny. However, the one time I had gone there before, they were even more soupy. This dish was for sure eaten with a spoon. Honestly though, the flavor makes up for the consistency. But was still lacking some more of that Pico de Gallo.
Dezsert... oh my gosh!! I ordered bread pudding and homemade salted caramel ice cream. I have yet to try the ice cream but ate the bread pudding as soon as I got home. I took it to go to as I was totally full. It was amazing. I know bread pudding is an acquired taste but I love it and get it any chance I have. It did not disappoint.
Overall, the service was fantastic. The food was good and the atmosphere was inviting.

Would I go back again... Yes! Would I order shrimp and grits... probably not. I'd take the next opportunity to explore more of the menu.
So yeah.. pictures are totally lacking this time. Don't judge!!
