Lizzano’s Pizza has a long tradition of hand-tossing every single pizza we bake. Tony Rika (Owner & Pizza Chef) has been hand-tossing pizzas for over 40 years.

He began his pizza career in Italian neighborhood restaurants at age 16 in Rome, Italy. Later, in New York City, he refined his pizza-making expertise at a number of notable neighborhood institutions including Seven Brothers at the corner of Church and Flatbush in Brooklyn, Angelo’s in Little Italy, and Ray’s in Manhattan. Tony’s family ties eventually brought him to Texas, and he decided to open

his own restaurant. Soon after, Tony was awarded Best Pizza in Tarrant County by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Now Tony works with his son at the pizza table, passing on the art of hand-tossed pizza to the next generation. We take no shortcuts. Our pizza dough and pizza sauces are made fresh each day. We use only the finest mozzarella cheese from Wisconsin. Each of our toppings are freshly prepared. You just have to try it! We think you’ll agree that there’s something special about our decades-long refinement of the perfect pizza.

This week we’re launching HEART to HEART, inviting local elementary school families to write personal notes of gratitude and encouragement to these precious neighbors—to be packaged in every meal we deliver. Starting tomorrow 3/26/2020, Lizzano’s Pizza is offering free meals to our Front-Line Healthcare workers, our elderly neighbors over 70 years old, and those at highest risk who reside within our defined delivery area.

Why Are We Doing This?

These neighbors are sheltering in place because they put themselves and others at risk if they leave their home—even for grocery shopping. We hope to lower their risk by providing free meals to these neighbors as long as the Shelter-In-Place order is in effect.

How Does It Work?

Dinner meals will be provided 3 days each week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Each meal is delivered cold and comes with reheating instructions. Each includes a salad, entree, bread and dessert. We don’t yet know which entree we will prepare on any given day, so it’ll be a surprise!

Meals will be delivered between 2pm and 5pm, or may be picked up at Lizzano’s Pizza as late as 9pm. Our delivery service is contact-free. We drop them at your doorstep and ring the doorbell.

Q: What is the “defined delivery area?”
A: It is outlined in blue on our delivery area map.

Q: What if I live outside the defined delivery area?
A: We wish we could help everyone in need, but to ensure the success of the program we need to limit it at this time to our defined delivery area and to our highest-risk neighbors mentioned above.

Q: What if I have food allergies?
A: Sorry, but we’re not able to accommodate special dietary needs such as gluten-free or nut-free.

Q: What if I qualify, but I reside with others who don’t qualify?
A: Again, we wish we could feed everyone, but we must limit this to qualifying persons, their spouses, and disabled dependents in the same home.

Q: Do I have to place a new order each day, or each week?
A: No. Your order will be a standing order that will repeat each week until you tell us that you no longer need it or until the Shelter-In-Place order is lifted.

Q: How many free meal orders can Lizzano’s handle?
A: Honestly, we’re not sure. We’ll take this a day at a time. If we hit a limit, we’ll have to stop taking additional orders. However we think we can handle quite a few.

Q: Why is Lizzano’s doing this when restaurants are having such a tough time staying in business?
A: It’s simple. The neighbors in our delivery area have supported us for 12 wonderful years. Now it’s our turn to support them. God is enabling us to look after our neighbors. We’ll trust God to look after our business.

Q: May I tip the driver?
A: Please do not feel any obligation to tip for this service. We are happy to do this. We realize however that some of you will insist on tipping. If so, you can do it in a contact-free manner by leaving it on your porch in a sealed envelope clearly labeled “Lizzano’s Delivery”. We will share your tips among our drivers and among the staff who packaged your meals.

Q: How can the rest of us help?
A: First, you can help by getting the word out. You may know of people in your neighborhood who may qualify for this. You may also be part of an organization like a church or mosque with members in our delivery area. You may run a business and have customers that reside in our delivery area. Tell them that they can learn all about the program at lizzanos.com.

You can also help us by continuing to support our restaurant business. We will cover the cost of this service as long as we stay in business. Although our dining room service is temporarily halted, we’re still open for carry-out Monday-Saturday from 11am to 9pm, and delivery from 1pm to 9pm.

You guys are great. We love your food and love what you are doing for the healthcare workers and elderly.

been a customer for years and usually order same items...went off and ordered Buffalo Wings...they were burnt and did not come with the expected hot sauce...called restaurant and was told they did not offer buffalo sauce...very disappointed

Just ate there. I had the Chicken Jerusalem and Fred had the Spinach Ravioli. EXCELLENT!!! Highly recommended. Ice tea is always fresh and we love the atmosphere. If you haven't been there, you don't know what you are missing.
