IDAHO FRIENDS AND FOLLOWERS

My friend Jessica over at Little Willow Homestead is offering up chicks to local pickup only…have you wanted some dark eggs? Some speckles? Some saturated greens and blues? Look no further! She’s offering up rainbow batches!

Personally, this gal is who got me into birds here locally. I’d searched the internet high and low for eggs like these and found her! These have been some of the best birds I’ve owned, they’re gentle and gorgeous! I’ve never been dissapointed going out to the coop for collection, and I know my egg customers have loved getting cartons of these gorgeous eggs for a while now.

RIP House

Dammit. Here I am on a Sunday morning crying over a chicken. But he wasn’t just a chicken…

My mom moved in with us January of 25. She had cancer and was undergoing treatment, so many days she stayed at the house and sat in the sunshine. She befriended three roosters, which she named Lopez, Moe, and House. They were (and still are) the kinda social outcasts. Low on the totem pole. Over the course of my mom being here, she would often feed them leftovers and bought them treats. There was even a time she made me go to the store and buy minestrone soup to heat up and feed to them on one cool September morning. She tamed those three but House was extra special. He was the only rooster I’ve been able to pick up and handle with ease, I’d give him to my kids, to my friends kids, to anyone visiting because he really did seem to enjoy the attention. He was a great hand warmer for me on the cold mornings doing chores and was my funky little buddy wandering the farm with me.
