The National Weather Service has issued a High Rip Current Risk for Emerald Isle. Fire department staff will begin changing the beach flags to red.

Red flags indicate dangerous ocean conditions. Due to the increased risk of dangerous rip currents, The Emerald Isle Fire Deparrment is advising everyone to stay out of the water and avoid swimming at this time.

The 72nd Annual Swansboro Mullet Festival is taking over historic downtown Swansboro October 10–11, and there's a LOT happening!

Here's what to put on your festival checklist 👇

🎉 MULLET PARADE
Kick things off Saturday morning at 9 AM as the parade makes its way along Highway 24 into downtown.

🛍️ 160+ CRAFT & FOOD VENDORS
Spend the day browsing local crafts, food, and plenty of festival finds.

🐟 THE FAMOUS MULLET FISH FRY
Saturday & Sunday, 11 AM–5 PM — fried mullet and whiting served with hushpuppies, coleslaw, and beans.

🎶 LIVE MUSIC
From The Tim Clark Band to Blackwater Rhythm & Blues Band and The Tams, there's music throughout the weekend.

🎯 MULLET TOSS & FAMILY FUN
Bring the whole crew for the Mullet Toss, children's activities, inflatables, and more!
