Bafun uni is a smaller sized sea urchin with meat that is sweet and buttery. This arrived from Santa Barbara this morning.

We’ve had many people ask if we had uni on our menu or when we would get it in. We received it today and will start selling 1 piece per order for dinner service until sold out.

What’s special for tomorrow?

Get ready for a treat Imperial County! It’s amaebi time. Amaebi is cold water shrimp that has a sweet flavor presented in a unique manner which must be seen to believe. The customer may choose between sashimi or sushi nigiri. We have a very limited number of orders for this dish so please come early.

Good quality sake served here:

I’d like to introduce our high quality sake to the Imperial County. Our sakes come from craft distilleries in Japan and have 14-15% alcohol content. They range from fruity to earthy to light but all are smooth and meant to sip while your enjoy your meal. We are serving all our sake chilled as it brings out the delicate aromas and really enhances their individual flavors. We may introduce hot sake in the future.

Also, I’ve never heard of a wine bomb so we will not be serving any sake bombs here. We want to respect the craftsmanship of all the distilleries and would like you to enjoy them as you would in Japan.

This nigiri sampler represents some of the best seafood Japan has to offer since all fish arrived from Japan this morning. Merry Christmas to everyone. In Japan it is common to celebrate Christmas with what is known as Christmas cake which is usually a strawberry shortcake decked out in festive decorations and fried chicken. It’s a magical time of year where family members get together to enjoy each other’s company before the New Years (oshogatsu) where people travel across the country to their hometowns. We want to wish you a wonderful weekend and have a great time with those close to your heart.
