🐷 The Pork Chop That Thinks It’s a Ribeye
There are pork chops… and then there are pork chops that apparently didn’t get the memo that they’re pork. 😂
Meet our Sakura Pork Bone-In Ribeye Pork Chop, the Cut of the Month at Kowalski’s Edina.
And just look at that chop!
The first thing you’ll notice about Sakura Pork is the beautiful rich color and marbling running through the meat. That marbling is one of the reasons these chops cook up so tender, juicy and flavorful.
Sakura Pork comes from specially selected heritage-breed hogs raised by a network of Midwestern family farms. They’re fed a vegetarian diet of corn and soy meal and raised with no growth promotants, unnecessary fillers or antibiotics.
But enough of the meat-department lesson.
Let’s talk dinner. 😋
One of my favorite ways to prepare a thick ribeye pork chop like this is actually pretty simple: season it generously, roast it low and slow at about 275°F until it reaches roughly 130–135°F internally, and then finish it in a screaming-hot cast-iron skillet for that beautiful golden crust. Let it rest and make sure it reaches 145°F before serving.
That low-and-slow cooking helps that beautiful marbling gently render, and the hot skillet takes care of the part that makes everybody standing in the kitchen suddenly ask:
“How much longer until we eat?” 😂
Add some roasted potatoes and vegetables, maybe a little applesauce if you’re old-school, and dinner is handled.
And if somebody at the table takes one bite and asks:
“Wait…this is PORK?”
Just smile.
That’s kind of the point. 😉
Stop by the Kowalski’s Edina Meat Department and check out our Sakura Pork Bone-In Ribeye Pork Chop, our Cut of the Month. And while you’re there, ask us how we like to prepare it. Talking about good meat is one thing we’re never exactly shy about. 😂
Because The Joy of Good Food isn’t just about what’s in the meat case.
It’s discovering something new, bringing it home, gathering around the table and turning an ordinary dinner into something everybody remembers. ❤️
The Joy of Good Food. The Joy of Good People. 🥩❤️
