What an honor it was to be in the room for the Platforms Powering Change reception, hosted by , , and after Day 1 of the Social Impact Summit. .

Surrounded by brilliant social impact leaders and changemakers, I was deeply inspired by the women in the room.

Seeing your work bring impact infrastructure to life is a true testament to what happens when companies and community organizations move the needle together 🤝.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to speak and share our own community initiatives here in GA. 💜

That knock on the door represents safety, community, and basic human dignity.
For isolated seniors in Atlanta, the Meals on Wheels volunteer who delivers their meal is also a vital connection to the outside world—checking on their well-being, sharing a warm conversation, and proving that their community still cares about them.

Carlo used to volunteer at Meals on Wheels years ago.
So it’s kind of like full circle that we were part of this year’s Taste, an annual culinary fundraising event hosted by MOWA to fight senior hunger and food insecurity.

It was heartwarming to see chefs, bakers, caterers, beverage professionals all came together to raise critical funds so that can continue with meal delivery programs, safety checks, and pet food delivery for our homebound elders.

There is truly no organization in Georgia quite like Side by Side Clubhouse! 🙌🏽✨
They create a magical, life-changing space filled with community, purpose, and hope for brain injury survivors.

So when our dear friend .bryan.schroeder invited us to be part of the 2nd annual , saying YES was the easiest decision ever! 💯

We had the absolute best time over at !
Seeing so many incredible friends from the industry rally together for such a worthy cause—and watching everyone enthusiastically bid on those auction items—was pure joy.
This has officially become one of our favorite, most uplifting fundraisers of the entire year, and we already can’t wait for the next one! 💜

The pure joy of working with .guia is immeasurable.

In an industry where people come and go, we are immensely blessed to have high retention.
Most of the you’ve met during our pop up days and when we opened our brick and mortar in ‘22 are still here.
We went through some growing pains but we grew together.

They never turned our back on us and understood what it took to get to where we are now.

Our catering division has surpassed and broke their records in the past.
And we have Iya, Ara, Boris and the rest of our catering and kitchen to thank for.
These are a bunch of humans who just don’t show up for a pay check and commission. They truly care. 💜

Salamat y’all!

Relief Team is in Georgia responding to the Highway 82 Fire—a fast-moving blaze that has grown to more than 5,000 acres in less than a day, destroying 87 homes and threatening about 1,000 more.

Several communities are under mandatory evacuation orders and Governor Brian Kemp has declared a State of Emergency.

WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines with the urgency of now to start cooking and provide meals to people in need.

By partnering with organizations on the ground, WCK provides freshly made, nutritious meals to communities impacted by disasters quickly and effectively.

As part of WCK chef corps, we know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis.

With over 600 million meals served globally, WCK continues to bring relief, one plate at a time. Your donation today fuels this mission—helping us reach more people, faster, when they need it most.

Kamayan Feast has become a way to tell someone “Mahal kita”. I love you. 💜

Communal eating is a unique, extraordinary way to celebrate a loved one.
We are getting so close to moving next door ( I know, so many delays!) so before our big move, we’re planning on hosting a Kamayan Fiesta for y’all!

This will be memorable with raffles and giveaways. It’ll be the last Kamayan in our current space. 💜

We’ll make the announcement soon!
It’ll be preticketed and portions of the proceeds will go to as part of their Joyful Dinner this year. Salamat Slow Food, proud to be a cohort member!

“I got you. I see you. I’m always rooting for you.”

Way before all the accolades, Carlo truly saw my magic 🥰 and in spite of every adversity, bumps in the road that we’ve been through, that 13 year old boy I met decades ago has always been the first one to celebrate anything good that comes my way.

This issue of is so special for all of us Southerners. Elated to be chosen “Best Chef” in Georgia.
As an immigrant minority female chef in the South, this is huge! This will serve as a motivation to me and inspiration to many.

So many of our friends are included in this issue as well so we hope you grab a copy! Or better yet, subscribe: https://thelocalpalate.com/print-subscription/

Thank you 💜

😂 when we said all hands on deck, this is what we meant!

We’re one of many immigrant owned restaurants here on Buford Highway.
It was common to see the owners’ children help with the day to day operations. You see less of that now, children should go after their own dreams.
We’re just fortunate that Pattycakes enjoys pitching in. So when you come here to eat, you’re not just having a meal, you’re also witnessing an immigrant family build and contribute something significant to the community.

Salamat to y’all for all the 💜 you’ve shown us since 2018!

We are open from noon-9 pm today, Saturday and tomorrow, Sunday.
Please let us know if it’s your birthday.
We have a 🍰 especially for you! 🎉

Love thy neighbor.

I grew up in Sampaloc, Manila in one of the oldest neighborhoods in the Philippines. Families on our street have lived there for generations. Carlo grew up in an equally tight knit neighborhood in Quezon City.
We were city kids who spent all day playing outside where we knew everyone’s grandma, titas and titos. It was like a village.

When one was ill, everyone pitched in to help.
There was always a Marites 😂 but in times of need, we set aside differences, squabbles and bayanihan was practiced.

When we moved to the US, we had to make certain adjustments. Culturally.

But our 💜 never forgot how we grew up. Bayanihan is etched deep in our 💜. So we started reaching out, helping our neighbors. Strangers.
For kindness is meant to be shared. And we don’t need to pick out a special day to do it. We just do it.

Salamat Mama Edna for volunteering and helping us feed the children at CHOA and their parents staying at Ronald McDonald House.

Ginataang Manok at Papaya.
Halal Chicken Green Papaya Coconut Stew.

I don’t wait for the perfect lighting or reach out for my kitchen tweezers when I’m in the zone, focused on cooking and feeding people the most comforting dishes from my parents’ region, Bicol.
It has all the ingredients Bicol cuisine is known for: fiery 🌶️ 🫚 🥥.
Simmered loooow and sloooow until .
It’s when it’s been reduced and concentrated leaving behind a rich, glossy, and highly flavorful sauce.

Lola, nanay, tita and manang approved! 💜Oragon ngani!

I cooked it last night for a private event and it’ll be available again this weekend.
Kain na po Tayo!
We’re open from 5-9 pm today, Wednesday.
Salamat po! 🇵🇭

8 years of creating Kamayan Feasts for y’all and it still feels exhilarating to see each and everyone of you appreciate it as you sit and celebrate with loved ones.

For us, Kamayan is the best way to amplify our Filipino cuisine and culture, no 🍽️ needed!

Filipinos are renowned worldwide for our warm hospitality.
We are proud to work in every aspect of the service industry.
Whether you’re in Doraville or Dubai, on a cruise ship in the middle of the Caribbean, aboard a plane, or in a hospital cafeteria.
You will find a Filipino worker who loves food and always finds a way to share it.

As we wrap up another Kamayan Feast, we reflect on the power of immigrant food to unite and inspire, its profound impact on the community and the way it’s transforming so many lives.

Sliding scale. Pay what you can. Or pay it forward.

Pancit is one of those dishes that we have when we’re celebrating a birthday. “Here’s to long life!”

But these days, we don’t need to wait to celebrate something. Just be able to gather and hug each other, knowing we got each other’s back, is a celebration in itself.

So come see us at Kamayan, we’ll feed you.

And for the month of April, we have Pancit as our community offering.
Because everyone deserves access to nourishing food.

Sending y’all love and the promise that there’s someone here for you.

💜,
Tito Carlo, Tita Mia and the entire Kamayan

The one who knows every win, every obstacle we have faced. She’s right there with us, always.

To those of you who have recently found us , it’s all because of Pattycakes. But for the rest of y’all, who have been rooting for us since the summer of 2018, she’s the real OG. The one who saw the sleepless nights, tears, burns and said, “Here, let me give you a hand.”

Happy Birthday!
We all need a place in the world where we can do something we truly love and you helped us create it. With all our hearts, salamat! 💜

We wish you happiness and may we inspire you to go after something that would keep that fire in you alive! ♈️

Our radiant, effervescent firecracker ♈️ 👸🏻 Ara turns a year older today.

She came into our lives during Kamayan’s early days as a brick and mortar.
She has an indomitable spirit, an unwavering determination to keep going. So she fit right in and helped us shape Kamayan to what it is now.

Our dearest , we wish you countless marvelous moments of joy, happiness and 💜.

We've partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities, providing meals to families and children with serious medical conditions at CHOA.

Did you know our own Tito Carlo came from a medical background before starting Kamayan?
This cause is truly close to our hearts.

We're excited to expand our meal distributions and community impact when we move into our new space next door.

A huge thank you to our volunteers for dedicating their time to help us give back.

2026 is shaping up to be our most impactful year yet, including a medical mission to the Philippines.

We’re still floored each time we see our team in action tackling catering orders in the crack of dawn, during service, 7 days a week.
I wish I could take more videos and 📸 but we’re typically all hands on deck. 😉

We can never emphasize the importance of Kamayan Feasts and caterings to our operation. A pretty huge chunk of Kamayan’s annual revenue comes from it.
And we 💜 celebrating our success by revenue shares with our incredible events and catering team.
This is how we continue to grow, by leaps and bounds!
As a small mom-and-pop, we are nothing without YOUR support and our team’s passion, diligence, and drive.

Today, we hosted another lovely couple's rehearsal dinner.

Reyna Lorena, our prep team's shining star 👸🏽, is the one who keeps us going.

Serving 400+ covers daily (plus takeout and catering) is no easy feat, but our team of women crushes it 7 days a week, making everything from scratch.

Today, we're celebrating Lore's birthday! She's been part of the Kamayan family since '23, and we're all better for it. If you see her, shower her with love and appreciation 💜.

We’re open from 5-9 pm today, Thursday
