Well all good things come to an end. We (Lulu & I) are officially done cooking BBQ comps. We have met a bunch of awsome people over the years and made a lot of friends that will last a lifetime. Time to find some new hobbies and rekindle some old ones. And yes the Jambo and 6' Southern yankee are for sale.

Well after backing off on the bbq circuit the last two years. We finally made it through the Sam's club locals and competed in the regionals this weekend in Madison WI. It's been 5 years but we're heading back to Bentonville AR for the nationals in two weeks! Can't believe it!

I have sent in app's for three comps so far this year but have yet decided to actually go cook them...well I pulled the trigger and ordered briskies today. So Fowl Butt BBQ will live another and LAST year competing! But..........when I fully retire (and don't have to deal with trucks and babysitting truck drivers) Me & Lulu will be back in the game FULL TIME! Hopefully KCBS will have their s**t together by then! Love my BBQ Friends!

Wow. Can't believe we haven't posted anything since May. We slowed down this year on the comp trail because of Grandkids, weddings, and basically needing a little break! Just got home from the Praise the Lard comp in Murphysboro IL. Had an awesome time with bbq friends that we have made over the last few years! anywho we became the only 3 time Butt to Butt champions ever in the whole wide world! On the KCBS side of things I went a little overboard with the cayenne dusting on the ribs and probably pi**ed a few judges off and over cooked our brisket. but we tied for first in the burnt chicken category and got seventh in pork. finishing 17th out of 55 teams. Off to Springfield KY next week for the Jim Beam classic! Wish us luck!!

For the record we competed 2 weeks ago in Wi******er, TN. Tried some new things on ribs and pork and were very happy with the results. Stayed with our chicken and scored damned near 172 on all three in ck, ribs and pork. And of all categories I screwed up the brisket (which is normally my best) and we came in 31st out of 59 teams. Heading to the mountains next week in Sevearville TN then on to Marrieta GA for our annuel ass kicking in the Sams club comp!!

I don't remember how many comps we cooked. I think 16-17
I didn't keep track of miles traveled.

Quite a few top 5's
Even more top 10's
I would like to call it a rebuilding year.
Still had a great time. I love my BBQ friends!!!
While I'm at it, I'll kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Going to back off next year and here's our tentative schedule.

6/26-27 Ypsilanti MI (Sams)

Geez I guess it's been a while since I've posted anything. Anyhow it's "Jack" week. Wish us luck as we head to Lynchburg TN to compete in the Jack Daniels World BBQ Championship.

Guess I ought to give an update to what we've been up to. As I posted whe were forced to use the Jambo before I was ready too. I am letting it teach me how it likes to cook! I'm starting to like it. Anywho we took 3rd in Severville TN then 15th in Evans GA then 16th in Jeffersonville IN. On our way to Lexington KY in the morning for the local Sams comp. Wish us luck.

Had the most interesting comp this weekend at Liberty IN. The Smoker decided to self destruct at 3:30am. Managed to pull out 2nd chicken, 5th ribs and 4th overall out of 43 teams. Huge congrats to Jeff n Shelly of Yellow River for GC and One2BBQ RGC.
Starting to prep for the turn south for a week in the mountains at Severville TN then on to Evans GA. Hello Jambo! Hope we are still friends when we get back!!
