Prune plums are a cherished staple in Eastern European cooking. They’re stuffed in dumplings, cooked down into butters and jams, dried into prunes, canned for use throughout the winter months, infused in vodka, distilled into brandy, and more.

On my recent trip to Michigan, I purchased 100 lbs of these prized plums from Mick Klug Farms to utilize in the seasons ahead. We can’t wait to share them with all of you.

Today is our General Manager, Peyton’s, birthday. And next month marks five years of working together, first at Wodka Bar, and now Sudova. We’ve experienced so many comical moments, difficult conversations, the chaos of opening a new restaurant, revered industry accolades, brutal feelings of burnout, and everything in between. Being on the front lines of daily restaurant service is not for the faint of heart, but watching Peyton, you’d never know it. She leads her team with calm, and has built a group of people who give excellent service without taking ourselves too seriously. It’s hard to imagine Sudova without her.

Happy Birthday, Peyton. We love you!
