Sit down and stay a while just off the Irving Park brown line stop or order delivery/catering. The idea for this restaurant arose from my love of traditional New York Jewish delis and appetizing shops. In recent years there has been a renaissance of delis in New York and elsewhere such as San Francisco, LA, Toronto and Montreal. Many of these new school delis are utilizing modern cooking technique
s, higher quality ingredients, and are offering more concise and focused menus. I grew up in Virginia and North Carolina, but both of my parents were born in New York City. I visited there several times in my childhood and my most distinct and earliest food memories are of Ratner’s (no longer around), Russ and Daughters (104 years old now), and Katz (even older). I am 1/2 Eastern European Jewish, 1/4 Greek and 1/4 Welsh/Irish. The Jewish and Greek sides of my family landed in New York around the turn of the century. My Welsh/Irish side helped settle Jamestown colony. My wife, Liz, is 100% third generation American Lebanese Catholic. We jokingly say we are doing our part for the peace process. Though the main vibe of our restaurant will be a nod to traditional Jewish Delis, there will also be definite hints of Lebanese and Southern Cooking as well. All of our seafood will be responsibly sourced and sustainable. Beef, turkey and chicken will be locally sourced and our produce will be local and organic whenever possible. Our bagels will be boiled and baked in house.
