Stopped by Indie Burger today and we tried a chick pea burger and a cheeseburger. Both were awesome. Organic, locally-sourced food, and they compost! Plus, the music theme is super cute. Well done!

Was just reading about Bike-a-Bee, a community beekeeping project. The bee hives are hosted by community gardens and the like, and the beekeeper checks in on the hives by bike! So fun and I hope I can help out at one of their future events sometime soon! http://bikeabee.com/

The cafeteria at ye olde day jobbe installed a SOMAT composter! I got a behind-the-scenes tour this morning, and it's great. The machine takes all the food and paper scraps from the kitchen and trays and shreds them. Then they're taken to a dehydrator where 18-hours later they're transformed into a fluffy, sawdust-like material (in the photo) that can be spread on garden beds or mixed into a compost pile. So excited that they're finally putting all of the wasted food to good use around here!

Now that Halloween is over (sniff), don't throw out your decorative hay bales or corn stalks! They make great "browns" to add to the compost pile all winter. Give me a shout if you have or see any!
