So when I was little, Saturdays and Sunday afternoons meant TV time while Nana cooked. Old black & white musicals were always on. Nothing topped Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers. Even now, they are amazing to watch. And today was the day Ginger Rogers was born (way back in 1911) and today, she gets a salute from me because she once said, “I did everything he did... only backwards and in high heels."

Ginger Rogers inspired me as a kid, and generations of women who have worked twice as hard, broken barriers, and made it all look effortless.

To all the incredible women out there—moms, daughters, chefs, entrepreneurs, teachers, caregivers, leaders, and dreamers—we see you, we appreciate you, and we're cheering you on every step of the way. I hope you enjoy a wonderful dinner with the people you love.

Tonight I’ll be making charbroiled lemon chicken. I’ll brush chicken breasts with olive oil. Grill them, then give them a kiss of lemon zest and basil, then serve with penne and ChefMel’s Vodka Sauce. Simple and elegant. Like Ginger Rogers.

So today is the anniversary of a really cool event that happened when I was young. LiveAid. It was the first mega concert with a goal of raising money to help starving kids in Africa. Two stages, one at Webley and one here in Philly. An AMAZING Lineup of stars. Adam Ant, U2, Freddie Mercury and Bryan May, Paul McCartney, Duran Duran, Duran Duran, and did I mention Duran Duran? Yeah, Duran Duran. And Hall Oates and the big Band-Aid finale. It was AMAZING. Nobody had ever done it before. So so so good. Most of it is on YouTube.

The lead singer of the Boomtown Rats, Bob Geldoff was knighted for putting it all together. I found out that his favorite dish is Fettucine Gorgonzola. So tonight, I am going to watch highlight reels from Live Aid and cook up Sir Bob’s fave.

Sauté about half a cup of diced onions in a fat splash of OO and add a pinch of red pepper flakes. After about 5 mins, you can add some minced garlic if you really like it over the top. Stir in a jar ChefMel’s Sweet & Spicy. High heat until you just start to see a boil, then drop the heat to low, add 1/2 cup heavy cream, drop in 1/3 cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese. Cook it low and slow. Stir until the cheese completely melts into a silky pink/orange sauce. Then toss your cooked fettuccine directly into the skillet—add a splash of pasta water—and stir until the noodles are well coated.

Have that for dinner and try to tell me you don’t like Mondays.

Good morning, friends!

Before I get cooking, I just want to say thank you to Fresh Thyme Market for believing in Chef Mel and making room on your shelves for a hometown, bootstrapping small business. Every bottle you carry represents a dream, and every customer who picks one up helps keep that dream growing. I'm grateful for all of you.

Now... let's cook!

Today I'm making my signature Cazzaloni. And all the ingredients are available at !

Start by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper and covering it with shredded mozzarella. Lay long, overlapping strips of zucchini across the cheese, then sprinkle another layer of mozzarella on top. Bake until it's beautifully golden.

Let it cool just enough to handle, then cut it into four "pasta sheets." Meanwhile, make your favorite filling. I use my classic meatball mixture, but use whatever makes your family happy. Roll the filling inside each zucchini sheet and place the rolls in a casserole dish.

Now comes the best part... cover everything with your favorite Chef Mel sauce, top with another generous layer of mozzarella, and bake at 375°F until the cheese is bubbling and browned just the way you like it. Give it a few minutes to rest before serving.

Then gather your people around the table. Serve it up. Eat it up. Tell everybody.

So even with USA out the race, I’m having a lot of fun with World Cup. I love seeing happy people from all over the world. Today’s game is between Morocco and France, two countries my Sicilian roots have a lot in common with. Sicilian cuisine is a lot like Morocco’s, and our love of wine is very similar to France. I’m torn between the two so I say GO WORLD!

Now let’s eat! Tonight I’ll make a nice piece of grilled swordfish with ChefMel’s Sweet Sicilian over angel hair pasta. You can find everything you need at your friendly neighborhood . And BTW, thanks for having me on your shelves! Small businesses like me appreciate your support!

I’ll brush and season the swordfish with a little garlic and OO before it hits the grill, and char some broccolini brushed with OO, salt, and lemon juice. Al dente angel hair the OG sauce and it’s GAME ON!

Hats off to Team USA Soccer! It was a great run. It took grit, sacrifice, and everyone pulling in the same direction to get as far as you all did

BTW, that’s not so different from small business. Every bottle of Chef Mel sauce represents long days, big dreams, and a whole lot of people who believed in a hometown brand. That's why I want to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to the amazing team at . Thank you for making room on your shelves for local businesses like mine. You don't just stock products—you invest in entrepreneurs, families, and the communities we all call home.

Next time you're in your neighborhood Schnucks, you'll find Chef Mel sauces in both the Italian aisle and the Local Brands section.

And remember, choosing local IS cheering for Team USA. Thank you for supporting small business. And thank you, Schnucks, for being part of our team.

So, right about now is when Zucchinis starts to hit—especially the giant ones. And that means it’s time for one of may all time favorites Stuffed Zucchini! Think of it as Lasagna in a Zucc. Cut the zucchini can half and scoop out some of the inside to make a canoe. Brown some Italian sausage, onions, garlic, and some of the zucchini insides, then mix that with fresh breadcrumbs, basil, tomatoes, oregano, Parm, mozz, and one egg to bind everything. Scoop that into the zucchini boat and pop it in a 400 degree oven for about 30 or 40 mins. Pull it out and spoon some heated ChefMel’s Sweet & Zesty 3 Cheese and wait for the 5-star reviews!

Happy Fourth of July weekend, everybody! So, I want to give a heartfelt thank you to all my grocers for believing in a hometown, bootstrapping small business and giving my sauces a place on your shelves. Supporting local businesses means more than you know, and I'm so grateful to you all. And to every customer who's picked up a jar, cooked a meal, shared it around the table, or told a friend about Chef Mel…thank you. You're the reason I get to keep making Nana’s sauce and sharing it with everyone.

This weekend, I'm making a big ol' pile of food, and Holy Macaroni, I hope you are too. Fill the table, pour another glass, laugh loud, hug your peeps, and make some memories worth keeping.

From my sicilian kitchen to yours, I wish you a safe, joyful, delicious holiday weekend.

CHEF MEL AND BBQ SHRIMP??? YAAASSSS!!! As Pride Month comes to a close, here's one thing I know for sure: The dinner table is still one of the last places where people can talk about it—whatever it is. So gather the people you love, welcome someone new, tell your stories, laugh a little louder, and pass another helping of this, my BBQ shrimp and brats made with the OG, ChefMel’s Sweet Sicilian Sauce. Happy Pride to all. Keep the flag flying’ until we march again next June!
