2016 Brunello di Montalcino from Casanuova delle Cerbaie. 95 points from James Suckling. $69 per bottle, exclusively at Foxcroft.

Casanuova delle Cerbaie is a small estate just below the village of Montalcino, farming 15 hectares at around 350 meters above sea level on limestone, marl, clay, and conglomerate soils. The Sangiovese is hand selected and aged traditionally in large Slavonian oak barrels.

2016 is considered an exceptional Brunello vintage. A long, balanced growing season gave the grapes excellent ripeness while holding onto freshness and acidity, resulting in vibrant fruit, polished tannins, and the structure to cellar for decades.
