Friends, we won’t be reopening Carpe Diem.
We have put quite a bit of thought into this decision, and it is a loss for all of us. We lost a lot of money with shutting down, and we feel that reopening would be a big financial investment that would likely mean additional loses. If Covid had not happened, we would have renewed our lease. We have had an incredible 30 years and have always shown tenacity.
All is not lost! We are excited to share that we’re reimagining Earl's Grocery. Earl’s menu will shift exclusively to takeout only, and will offer favorites from both menus, including the Carpe Diem fried chicken and Earl’s Harvest Salad, among others. To-go dinner service launched last week, and eventually lunch will be added back in.
We had originally wanted Earl’s to be more of a grocery store, so we are moving forward with a mix of that.
The grocery offerings will be a well-curated mix of everyday brands and speciality items as well as local favorites such as Homeland Creamery milk, local eggs, Duke’s Bread, Chef Alyssa’s Spreads, Cannizzaro sauces, Pure Intentions Coffee and many others.
Online grocery orders and curbside pickup will be part of Earl’s, and we’re hoping to fully launch the new services and business model within the next two weeks.
The to-go menu is currently available 3-8:30p, Tuesday-Saturday. Pickup is at Earl’s Grocery, 1609 Elizabeth Ave. Orders — by phone only — are accepted after 2:30p each day: 704-333-2757.
