For the longest time, I thought staying hydrated just meant drinking more water.

And while water is essential, I started noticing I felt better when I made herbal tea part of my day too.

It wasn't anything complicated, but somewhere along the way, it just became a habit.

A pitcher steeping while I cleaned the kitchen. Filling a mason jar with ice before heading out to the garden. Reaching for something cold that tasted good enough to keep drinking.

One of the things I appreciate most about herbs is that they bring more to the glass than flavor. They naturally contain minerals and other plant compounds, which is one of the reasons I reach for them so often.

Now, if there's a pitcher of herbal tea in the fridge, I always pour that first. It's one of the small habits I didn't think much about when it started, but I'd miss it if it were gone.

I think that's what I've been chasing all along.

Not the tea.
The feeling.

The kind of afternoon where no one is in a hurry. Where conversation lasts a little longer than you planned. Where someone eventually says, "Want another glass?"

Those are the moments I remember most from growing up with Ruby.

Maybe that's why a pitcher of iced tea still feels like home.

The older I get, the more I realized The Ruby Apothecary wasn't built on herbs.

It was built on lessons I learned long before I ever knew the first things about herbs.

Ruby was an incredible cook, and so much of what I know in the kitchen started with her. But what stayed with me most wasn't a recipe.

It was the way she cared for her people.

A pitcher of tea waiting in the fridge.
A garden with something always growing.
A table that always had room for one more.
She showed me that caring for people was usually found in the smallest things.

Years later, herbalism gave me a new way to express those same lessons.

When I look around The Ruby Apothecary today, I don't just see teas, salves, and honey.

I see the legacy of a woman who taught me that caring for people is rarely complicated. It's found in the little things we do, over and over again.

The simple luxury of tea.

A reminder that the most meaningful moments are often the simplest ones. 🤍

Sun on your skin. Ice in your glass. The kind of afternoon that makes you forget what time it is.

Ruby would've called it "good for the soul."

She was never in a hurry, and maybe that's why I think about her so often this time of year. Summer has a way of reminding me to slow down too.

A pitcher of Radiance in the fridge, a handful of fresh herbs from the garden, and a few quiet minutes on the porch.

I don't think summer needs much more than that.

What's in your glass this summer? 🌿

Summer vibes look a little different around here ☀️

Fresh herbs from the garden, a pitcher of iced tea on the table, bare feet in the grass, and nowhere to rush off to. Just simple moments worth remembering. 🌿

Make Radiance with us ☀️🌺

When the weather heats up, I naturally reach for herbs that help the body feel refreshed and replenished.

That's what inspired Radiance.

🌺 Hibiscus supports hydration, circulation, and cooling.
🌹 Rosehips provide vitamin C and antioxidant support.
🍃 Spearmint helps cool internal heat while supporting digestion.
🍊 Orange peel supports healthy digestion and fluid movement.
🍋 Lemongrass adds brightness while helping ease feelings of heaviness after meals.

Together, they create a tea that's vibrant, refreshing, and especially welcome during the hottest months of the year.

My favorite way to enjoy it? Poured over ice after spending too much time outside. 🫶

Summer at Ruby's house always involved a cold drink after a day spent outside. Radiance is my herbal version of that tradition—cooling, nourishing, and made for long summer days.

Lately, this has been the tea sitting in my fridge almost every week.

I make a large batch, pour it over ice, and reach for it throughout the day instead of wondering why I'm dragging by 3pm.

It's bright from the hibiscus and citrus, refreshing from the spearmint, and somehow tastes exactly like summer should.

Most afternoons you'll find a mason jar of it somewhere nearby, usually next to me in the garden or riding along to the farmers market. Simple herbs. Cold tea. A small shift that makes the summer heat a little more bearable.
