From the Christianity vs mormonism FB page: Why did Brigham Young defy Jesus Christ. Brigham Young taught that “if the woman preferred a man higher in authority, and he is willing to take her and her husband gives her up-there is no Bill of divorce required...it is right in the sight of God”. Brigham also explained that the woman, “...would be in a higher glory”. Thus, if a woman leaves her husband for a prophet, she will have a higher reward in heaven. This is a common teaching among cult leaders, not just Mormonism. The prophets of cults often get lots of women. Brigham opposed the teaching of Jesus who said of marriage, “what God has joined together, let no one separate” (Mark 10:9). Brigham added, unless you get to marry a prophet. Joseph married several women who were already married to other men. Polygamy, polyandry, consaguine (marriage of relatives, in Joseph's case there were marriages of sisters and well as mother and daughters). This is forbidden in biblical scripture. Joseph also denied practicing polygamy, and this is against his own doctrine. Any explanations why he would do this?
