Hello Friends,
Its that time of the year again. The time of year where we get dressed up (somewhat), get together with friends, and wave goodbye to 2011 and hello to another year of opportunity, resolutions, and adventures. Wherever the party may take you this New Years Eve, every party will have one thing in common, Bubbles.
Now if your like me, you can't really afford to drop big bucks on a bottle of Champagne like Laurent-Perrier Cuvee Brut Rose, Gosset, or the infamous Dom Perignon Vintage, to drink on NYE, let alone share with friends. These are bottles where I am extremely and entirely selfish. If you can afford this on NYE, I want to be your friend. For the more conservative drinkers, lets explore some tasty options for your new years party to be found at your local liquor store.
The Top 3 Picks for New Years Eve Bubbles!….
1). Cremant's
When I think of Cremant, I think of Lucien-Albrecht. This producer has been rocking out major quality cremant year after year. Almost every time I pop a bottle of this, it provides me with instant smiles that are sure to spread to your holiday guests. And at 15.00 a bottle, this is a winner. Grab the Rose for around 3.00 more. If you can't find this one producer, ask your neighborhood store sales people for any cremant from Alsace that they recommend.
2). Spanish CAVA.
Spanish CAVAs are hot. And I think there is no better value for the money when it comes to bubbles. They provide a serious amount of depth for spanish bubbles and have nuances of fruit and bakers' dust, toasted heads, and toffee. These are great wines for the cold weather bubble drinker in all of us. Get your hands on one of these two CAVAs to try.
RAVENTOS I BLANC "LHEREU" CAVA BRUT NV [SPAIN] It runs about 18$-20$.
Recommended to me is the MAS FI Brut Cava @ 12$-13$.
Now I have no tried this but you be the judge and post your thoughts on Toast and Tell App for all your followers to see.
3). Prosecco
For bubble drinkers who prefer a really crisp, clean sparkling, then prosecco is your choice. Now this is a flooded market but you can almost guaranteed to see LaMarca Prosecco in any decent wine store your go. Ive even seen it at Costco. Now normally, I would not include a producer as big as this, but the juice is good. It an honest, straight forward prosecco and for 12.00$ on average, its a no-brainer. I invite you to be adventurous. Try some higher priced Proseccos like Soligo or Carpene Malvote Rose Prosecco. Both of these are still under 20$. Buy and compare or seek out recommendations and post your thoughts on Toast and Tell.
It's always fun to compare and put our palettes to the test. We all have had years of training and don't even know it. Make sure to post all your findings and fun holiday beverage purchases on Toast and Tell. From all of us here at your favorite social wine app to all our members and friends, Happy New Year and a prosperous 2012.
Cheers.
