Downtown’s Fourth Friday Celebrates Arlington History on July 24
Downtown Arlington’s Fourth Friday event on Friday, July 24, will feature a special evening celebrating local history, community, and America 250 in our hometown.
The evening begins at 4 p.m. with a performance by the Cascadia Pipe Band at the Innovation Center. From 4 to 6:30 p.m., community members can also take part in Arlington Trivia. Trivia materials will be available for pickup at the Innovation Center.
At 4:30 p.m., historical walking tours of Main Street will begin at City Hall. Participants are invited to take a walk through downtown using a new historical brochure that highlights the history of Main Street buildings and the stories behind Arlington’s downtown development.
The evening will continue at 6 p.m. at the Olympic Theater with a free premiere showing of the Stillaguamish Valley Pioneers’ latest film, Where the River Meets the Rails: An American Story 1776–1910. The film is approximately 30 minutes long and explores the early history and development of the region. The showing will also include Timber! The Development of Arlington 1850–1920, a 17-minute film focused on Arlington’s timber history and growth.
