ATTENTION HUNTERS!
RED BEAR BASE CAMP FOR COLORADO UNIT 81?
We’re kicking around an idea for this fall and want to see if there’s enough serious interest to make it happen.
We’re considering opening the Red Bear Haus for 1st, 2nd and 3rd rifle seasons as a comfortable Base Camp for DIY Unit 81 hunters.
Think the full wall-tent hunting camp experience, with the amenities that make it comfortable. Heated canvas wall tents, cots, wood stove and campfire outside — plus hot showers, Wi-Fi, electricity, a warm pub/common room, football on TV, pool table and cold beer.
Your Base Camp package would include:
• Heated wall-tent lodging — bring your sleeping bag
• Grab-and-go breakfast ready whenever you head out
• Sack lunch for the mountain
• Hot coffee all day
• Chili and sandwich fixings available during the day
• Big family-style dinner every evening
• Hot showers
• Wi-Fi and electricity
• Pub/common room, TV pool table and poker table
• Campfire and firewood
We’re right on the edge of the Rio Grande National Forest in GMU 81. Hunt hard all day, then come back to Base Camp, get warm, grab a shower, sit down to a big meal, have a beer and enjoy the evening around the fire with the rest of camp.
Tentative 2026 pricing:
1st Rifle — Oct. 17–21 — $1,750/person
2nd Rifle — Oct. 31–Nov. 8 — $2,000/person
3rd Rifle — Nov. 14–20 — $1,750/person
UTVs would be available for separate multi-day rental. Beer, laundry and general-store purchases are separate. We also have a relationship with a local meat processor who can handle everything from hanging and freezing your animal until you head home to full processing and shipping.
This is Base Camp, not an outfitted hunt. You handle the hunting; we make camp easy.
We’re not taking reservations yet. Right now we’re testing the waters. If there’s enough serious interest, we’ll put the final details together and open a very limited number of spots.
If you’d seriously consider booking, comment or message us with the season you’d want.
Like, tag and share this with your hunting buddies and share it to your favorite FB pages so we can get a good read on whether there’s enough interest to make Red Bear Base Camp happen this fall.
