Meskousing Boats is a manufacturer of lightweight composite hull fiberglass utility kayaks. The boats are manufactured with attention to detail and the finer points of a boat. Comparing a Meskousing Boat to a mass-produced boat is like comparing instant coffee to a fresh roasted cup of java. The hand laid fiberglass limits the amount of resin necessary to produce a strong hull. Many boats in this design category weigh over 75-pounds. The Meskousing Backwater comes in at a petite 52-pounds. The Backwater prototypes weighed 55-pounds, but through improvements in materials and process it went on a diet and lost three pounds. The lightweight allows the boat to be easily carried by a single person on a shoulder, cart, or other method. This also allows the boat to accelerate quickly. The keeled hull allows the boat to track well, but it is also a very responsive boat for its size.
