Transparency post from a small business owner as a chef:
As I finally lay down in my bed from a a highly affecting day, I reflect on everything that transpired today that turned my world upside down but also showed me the true meaning of what and who my supporters are.
When I tell you “everything” that could go wrong today happened.
- My fryer broke down
- All my generators stopped working
- My warmers shut down
Amongst other things, what’s worse is that I could not service my customers with the menu that I had put so much thought in time into. Where I feel people don’t understand sometimes is that ashes we put our heart and soul into our food in our business I had been prepping for this weekend for weeks. I put thought into my menu and I was looking forward to being able to serve every item on my menu, and when I couldn’t, it broke my heart.
Seeing people come in order from me that have told me that they have followed me for so long and that they have been waiting to try my food and knowing that I could not give it to them was so disheartening. For a moment, I couldn’t keep it together no more and felt so discouraged.
In the end, I’m so thankful for the people who rushed to my aid to comfort me emotionally. The ones who checked on me constantly to make sure I was OK throughout the entire day, the ones who let me their shoulder and let me drop a few tears on them which seemed almost every 30 minutes lol. I’m not a big cry but today it seem like I was a big baby at the same time. I had every right to be breaking down in front of my customers was a very vulnerable moment for me.
I really try hard to do the best I can, but I am not perfect and unfortunately, I can’t control things that are out of my control
Sadly, I did not have the nicest customers either unfortunately there were some that were not so understanding and didn’t have kind words to you individuals. I’m sorry that the experience you received was not what you expected. I can’t control things that are out of my control. Sometimes people can be so mean and not realize how much they’re crushing the other person.
With all that being said, God said in everything give thanks 🙏🏽 and I thank God that he gave me this opportunity to be able to go to a public event and showcase some parts of my food. I stayed prayerful through the entire day, and although I didn’t get to serve my entire menu, I sold out of all of my Catfish.!!! that warmed my heart because although I could only sell two proteins on my menu, you guys ate all of it😂😂
I know tomorrow will be a better day. So to update everyone on tomorrow.
-I will be starting at 1 PM
-I am going to purchase a new fryer tomorrow, at least that’s the plan
-I have a new generator that is strong and fully functional
Lastly, I just asked that everybody be patient and please be kind. I really put my heart into providing you with great service and great food. I understand wait times can be long, but I can only cook so much in a moment if you see a line most likely there is a weight because I’m trying to get orders out safely and effectively.
I really appreciate everybody that supporting me today and everybody that came and encouraged me today with kind words and checked on me. I love you guys so much. You’re truly my supporters and I can’t wait to see everyone again tomorrow.!!! God willing, the menu will be fully open tomorrow.
Due to selling so much Catfish today it will be limited tomorrow. If you want to get your plate get there early I only have a limited amount, but I will have shrimp and chicken.☺️
