Neighborhood Restaurant Group

Neighborhood Restaurant Group A restaurant group located in DC/VA with 19 concepts, including chef-driven restaurants, a bakery, retail wine shop, brewery & full catering business.
(6)

The Neighborhood Restaurant Group was founded in 1997. What began modestly as the Evening Star Cafe, a rollicking corner restaurant in Alexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood, has now grown to include more than 20 restaurants, a wine shop, a bakery, a butcher shop and a full service catering business. Combined, the group employs nearly 600 people and participates in a number of charitable projects to benefit Share Our Strength, Capital Area Food Bank, Boys & Girls Club of America, Alexandria Child Fund, Carpenter’s Shelter, DC Central Kitchen, and many others. As its name suggests, the Neighborhood Restaurant Group is a group, not a corporation. It is a collective of talented and committed restaurant professionals who share common goals: to surpass the expectations of the guest; to open and operate exceptional, distinctive, and conscientious chef-driven restaurants with ambitious beverage programs; and to create idiosyncratic gathering places that reflect the communities in which they reside. Current businesses include the Evening Star Cafe, Planet Wine, Vermilion, Rustico (two locations), Buzz Bakery (three locations), Tallula, EatBar, Columbia Firehouse, Birch & Barley, ChurchKey, GBD, Iron Gate, Red Apron Butcher (three locations), Bluejacket Brewery & The Arsenal, The Partisan, 550 Events & Provisions. The Neighborhood Restaurant Group remains focused and committed to its community and to its guests, and is constantly seeking new ways to better serve them both.

Red Apron Butcher to open a restaurant at its Merrifield location

"Nate is a huge music fan and references to that have been part of Red Apron from the beginning," Babin offered in an e-mail statement. "People who listen to vinyl 45s know that some of the coolest, rarest songs can only be found on the B Sides, and we thought — with all of the great offerings we were packing into this tiny space, and with the relationship of the place to its next door neighbor — the B Side was the perfect name." Check out more details on our forthcoming restaurant from Red Apron Butcher, the B Side, set to open this September: http://ow.ly/Askqj

The B Side will be a smaller, more bar-centric version of the Partisan on D Street NW.

Friends & neighbors, one of our servers has been missing since Monday evening. He was last seen leaving Justin's Cafe near National's Stadium at approximately 11 PM (photo on the left was what he was wearing that day) and hasn't been heard from or seen since. He's about 5'10'', 160 lbs., Caucasian, 25 years old. If anyone knows of his whereabouts or sees him, please contact Fairfax Police at 703-691-2131 (case # 20141270259). As a group of restaurants and chefs, we couldn't think of a better mission to get behind than Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture. They believe everyone should have access to and be able to afford real food and so do we. Which is how they started their first Mobile Market and are raising money to launch a second one that will bring healthy, affordable produce to underserved communities in the DC area. You can donate to their campaign through Spring2ACTion today: http://spring2action.razoo.com/Arcadia-Food and head to Arcadia's page to participate in their contest by telling them why you think the Mobile Market is an important cause!

Tell us why you think the Mobile Market is important, and you'll be entered to win 2 tickets to our Spring Farm Dinner on June 8th!

You must enter before 11:59 PM on 4/9/2014. Contest information can be found here: http://ow.ly/vAhzJ

You don’t need to share or donate to enter, but we’d appreciate it if you did.
