As a new year is upon us, please remember to keep an updated Stock Will on file. We have teamed up with the Aleut Corporation to have a dual Stock Will that includes both your regional corporation and village corporation shares. The Stock Will can be found on Aleut Corp's website under forms.
On the back of the form is a check box where you can write in Akutan Corp for your village Corp shares listed on the front. Remember: your shares listed on the front of the Stock Will is in percentages and it needs to add up to 100% shares. By having this form on file, it makes it easier to transfer the shares you own to who you want them to go to and not through Intestate Succession.
There are columns on the Stock Will that you can fill out for just your Aleut Corp or just your Akutan Corp or you can fill both columns out to cover both corporations. We worked with Aleut Corp to make our Stock Will form easier and able to be used between both entities. All originals are filed with the Aleut Corp, and they will send a certified copy to each village corporation.
Stock wills require, in front of a notary, the shareholder's signature and 2 witnesses to be valid. Akutan Corp General Manager April Pelkey is a notary and is able to help with filling out the forms and notarizing them. The Akutan Corp will keep a copy and send the original to the Aleut Corp on behalf of the Shareholder.
