Sometimes, the best game drive is just around the corner. A recent safari took us on a slight detour, and this is what we found.

Before your safari, there are a few things you need to check off your list. Other than packing your essentials like your camera, external batteries and your safari clothing gear, you need to make sure that you have the below up to date:

1) E-visa to Tanzania: While you can get visa upon landing, the queue can be a bit daunting at the airport, so having your e-visa prior to your arrival could save you time! One thing to keep in mind is that there could be delays in the online application, so we would recommend applying at least 1 - 1.5 month in advance.

2) Don’t forget your shots: aside from the anti-malarial pills, you should check with your family doctor and travel clinic about having your shoots up-to-date. Tetanus shots for one, need to be re-administered every 10 years, so make sure you check. Another recommended vaccine would be Hep A, and Dukoral, which is an oral vaccine to prevent traveller’s diarrhea.

3) Insurance, insurance insurance: Many of us purchase insurance right before our trip, but when it comes to safari, we’d recommend having a comprehensive insurance in place right after you book your safari to ensure you’re covered in the event you need to cancel a trip.

We hope this was helpful, and next up, we will share more on how to prepare for your safari in terms of packing!

Lions vs. Hyenas: The Savanna’s Ultimate Rivalry 🦁⚔️🐾

Lions rule with size, speed, and raw power—a single lion can overpower almost anything on the plains. But hyenas fight smart. They rely on numbers, endurance, and one of the strongest bite forces in the animal kingdom (up to 1,100 PSI, even stronger than a lion’s).

Hyena clans work like a unit, surrounding and harassing their rivals until exhaustion sets in. Their female-led societies are bold and ruthless, often stealing kills right from lionesses.

But don’t underestimate lions. Male lions are lethal—capable of killing hyenas outright—and they pose a major threat to hyena cubs. When males are present, hyenas think twice.

On the African savanna, dominance depends on who shows up—and how many. 💪🏻

While the leopard is one of the most elusive animals on safari, making a sighting a rare and exciting one - we always strive to bring our guests to areas where leopards roam, and we often have a very high success rate. Safari sighting sometimes depends on luck, but more often than not, it requires intentional, strategic planning and knowledge. At Safari Infinity, this is how we plan your safari.
