MABBETT THE MARVEL WINS AT CRYSTAL BAY

Crystal Bay was the venue for our mid-week game. At 1250 baht all-in it is a bargain and one feels that with good investment, it could be back to what it used to be years ago. There can be no denying that Crystal Bay is an excellent lay out with some very demanding holes. The last 2 holes on the A 9 are probably the best closing holes on our schedule.
Steve Mabbett has just returned back from England and has run bang into form with a 3rd place on Monday and a win today. The 13-handicapper shot 22 points on the back 9 to total 41 points. Runner-up was Tony Browne who played tremendous golf from tee to green but he could not buy a putt for love or money. Where Steve had 22 points on the back 9, Tony had 22 on the front 9 for a total of 39. The final podium place went to Allan Jones with even 0`s of 18 points for 36.

RESULTS:
1st Place Steve Mabbett (13) - 41
2nd Place Tony Browne (18) – 39
3rd Place Allan Jones (21) – 36

GEORGE CONTINUES GOOD FORM WITH A FINE WIN AT SILKY OAK

First up this week was Silky Oak where we took 4 groups and which we played off the yellow tees. Even off the yellow tees, the course was playing long which wasn’t really surprising considering the overnight rain. Despite that, the course was in excellent condition and, it must be said, is probably one of the most scenic courses on our schedule. The greens in particular were very fast but very true.
George Wilson was away last week but came back in good form and headed the podium with 37 points. Three players vied for the runners-up spot which was eventually won by Dave Boyes who`s 35 points edged out Steve Mabbett and Mike Batt on countback.

RESULTS:
1st Place George Wilson (20) - 37
2nd Place Dave Boyes (26) – 35 c/b
3rd Place Steve Mabbett (13) – 35 c/b
4th Place Mike Babb (26) – 35

PAUL TIDIES UP AT GREENWOOD

Our first game of the new week saw us venture to Greenwood where we played A and B nines in perfect conditions weather wise. The course was in very good condition with a big improvement on the fairways from the last time we played there. Greenwood had obviously suffered from some heavy rain overnight. It was so bad that the staff were actually pumping water out of one the greenside bunkers on A 3.
As for the golf, it was Paul Tidy who hoovered up the winnings with 38 points courtesy of a fine birdie on the last hole. His 38 points was 1 clear of Billy Buchanan who, despite having the 2nd best score on the day, still managed to lose all the 6`s.
Just as a heads up, we have managed to get a deal with Pattaya Country Club until the end of October with an all-in price voucher price of 1850 baht which is a very good saving.

RESULTS:
1st Place Paul Tidy (9) - 38
2nd Place Billy Buchanan (16) - 37
3rd Place Dave Boyes (26) - 34
