This one was a bit of a “let’s see what we can make with what we have” cake. 😅

It was a birthday cake for my partner’s friend, and I knew he liked chocolate cake, so chocolate it had to be. The only problem was… I had a very short time to make it, and I didn’t have quite enough chocolate ganache to cover the whole cake the way I originally planned.

I used the leftover gum paste anthurium flowers from a previous cake, added some leaves, and even found a few black cherries left over from making jam. Somehow, all these little leftovers came together better than I expected.

The chocolate cake ended up with this slightly rustic, almost antique-looking finish, with the golden details, anthuriums and cherries adding just enough drama.

And honestly, I’m pretty happy with how this one turned out.

So… this cake started with me wanting to make something pink and pretty with anthuriums. 🌸

I love how the ivory anthuriums stand out against the soft pink texture though. It feels like a little flower garden growing all over the cake.

Not too polished, not too perfect — just the kind of pretty I was hoping for. 🤍🌿

This cake started with a simple idea — white, delicate, and covered in edible lace. 🤍

Then I added the violet Bougainvillea, and somehow it completely changed the feeling of the cake.

I love how the soft lace and the bold purple flowers work together. It feels romantic without being too sweet, and a little dramatic without being over the top.

Poppies are often seen as symbols of remembrance. We chose them for different reason.

To remind us that the most meaningful moments are often the quietest ones.

This cake was create to celebrate those moments.

I love working with unexpected materials.

For this cake, I used handcrafted rice paper to create soft, translucent layers that almost glow, then balanced them with tiny black gum paste buds for contrast. It’s a reminder that sometimes the most beautiful designs come from the simplest colour palette.
