Offto Coffee

Offto Coffee The pervasive practice of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) is one of the most dramatic examples of harm perpetuated on girls and women.

FGM/C is defined as procedures involving partial or total removal of female genitalia, or other injury to female genital organs. Somalia has one of the highest prevalence rates of FGM/C in the world, with more than 98% of Somali girls between the ages of 7 to 12 being cut (UNICEF MICS 2006), and with the majority being subjected to the most severe type of the practice called ‘phaoronic’, usually involving infibulations.
