Thereâs something quietly disarming about this verse â it reminds us that whatever we have, whether talent, success, or even the breath to get through a hard day, isnât entirely self-made. So when someone moves through life acting like they earned everything in a vacuum, it feels a bit off, like theyâve forgotten the invisible threads of grace, help, people, and timing that got them there. Gratitude, then, isnât just politenessâitâs clarity. Without it, a person can end up clinging too tightly to pride, missing the bigger picture that none of us really stands alone â and Scripture often shows that when pride and ingratitude go unchecked, life has a way of catching up with them, gently or not, until theyâre reminded that they were never as self-sufficient as they thought.
