Today marks a meaningful step forward for the coffee community of 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨.

We officially gathered for the 𝐒𝐂𝐨𝐁𝐚𝐫 (𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧) Pre-Work Strategic Planning and Roadmap, bringing together passionate individuals committed to building a stronger, more unified coffee ecosystem in the province.

The session was anchored with a coffee cupping of T’boli, South Cotabato Specialty Coffee—a reminder of why we do what we do: to elevate the quality, story, and value of our local coffee from farm to cup.

Guided and facilitated by 𝐃𝐓𝐈 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐚𝐲 𝐃𝐮𝐜𝐨, the discussion laid down the foundation for what SCoBar aims to become—an organization that champions education, quality, collaboration, and sustainable growth for everyone in the industry.

You’ll explore how tasting works in a clear, approachable way. Through aroma exercises, flavor mapping, and guided mini cupping, you’ll learn to distinguish acidity from bitterness and uncover your unique “coffee personality.” By the end, you’ll feel confident in expressing what you enjoy and making better coffee choices.

Brewing Essentials – April 29
Get hands-on with manual brewing. Learn different methods, equipment, coffee-to-water ratios, grind sizes, and brew recipes, and understand how each variable affects extraction and flavor for a consistently balanced cup.
