In the College of Business and Accountancy, students, particularly those in the entrepreneurship program, are shaped to become future innovators and changemakers. They are equipped not just with knowledge learned within the four corners of a classroom, but also with real-life experiences that transform their smallest ideas into their biggest dreams.
This yearโs RIDe Fest (Research, Innovation, and Development Festival) featured a wide variety of booths, serving as an avenue for young CBA entrepreneurs to showcase what they can offer to the CLSU Community.
Whether it is a product or service, students in the college are nurtured as future business professionals from the foundations of passion, commitment, and integrity. From marketing, finance, and operations, the term โwell-roundedโ isnโt enough to describe an entrepreneur.
Among them are four young visionaries, some with a touch of sweetness and a delightful passion for healthy yet affordable and delicious snacks, and one with a unique and creative eye for photography.
As they kindle their entrepreneurial spirit, these students continue to turn their ideas into promising ventures of perseverance and purpose.

Flordeliza Pila, a fourth-year BS Entrepreneurship student, owns Delizaโs Sweetโa homemade online pastry shop offering a delightful selection of sweets, cookies, cupcakes, and pastries. During the RIDe Fest, she exemplified her love and passion for baking by selling banana and coffee muffins.
When asked about her preparation for the event: โSince naka dorm po ako, mahirap sa part ko ang production since kailangan kong umuwi para [lang] makapag-bake dahil hindi pwede sa dorm ang oven,โ said Flordeliza. โSo kapag nakaubos na ako ng stock for that day, uuwi na kaagad to bake.โ
Despite these circumstances, she persevered by acknowledging that the event was a great opportunity for a start-up business like hers, serving as a stepping-stone to introduce their goods to the public.
Moreover, Vories Castro, also an ENTREP 4 student, showcased his personally-made rice cakes under Delizaโs Sweets during the event.
Accordingly, they dealt positively with customers, managed their time effectively, and further gained important lessons, particularly involving product presentation, as well as the value of teamwork in running a business.
โStart small and do not be afraid to try and make mistakes, because thatโs where learning begins,โ Pila emphasized when asked what her advice is to students who want to start their own business venture. โItโs also important to choose a business youโre passionate about so youโll keep going even when challenges arise.โ

Janna Mae Barroga, also from BS ENTREP 4, owns JMB Snack Houseโdesigned to bring people together, providing an inviting space for people and their loved ones to build stronger, meaningful connections. Offering shareable snacks paired with refreshing drinks, she upscaled the original nacho chips by using cassava chips instead, topping it using malungay cheese sauce and mushroom meat with fresh vegetable toppings.
As part of their course requirements, she decided to innovate and improve her product which already had a pre-existing market way back 2024. With products being gluten-free, Jannaโs goal is to provide healthy yet affordable snacks for health-conscious Filipino masses.
Part of her supply chain are the suppliers, goods from the public market, online shops, and their very own backyard for malunggay and other ingredients.
When asked about her preparation for the RIDe Fest: โIt was challenging because I had to travel from Pantabangan, and we were also worrying about whether we could still take the examsโฆ,โ said Janna.
Some customers didnโt expect that what is supposed to be meat turned out to be mushroom, with similar taste but healthier alternative. Based on her observation, lots of consumers ended up enjoying the combination of her cassava chips, together with its sauce and ingredients.
Afterwards, Barroga had her fair share of realizations: First, time management is very important, especially in preparation. Second, tracking orders and sales help keep track of income and expenses. Lastly, customer inputs are a big help, giving her ideas for further improvements.
โDonโt be shy to sell, and donโt immediately think negative thoughts like โwhat if walang bumili?โ said Janna, when asked for her advice to students planning to start their business venture. โJust push through with what you think customers want or need in the market,โ she added.

Creativity met innovation through Renaissance studio featuring an interactive booth with a unique self-shoot studio concept, introduced by Reina Lee Andres, also a BS ENTREP 4 student. Through her business, customers can operate the camera and capture their own photos, similar to that of a real studio.
For people with a passion in photography, for people with creative goals, and for individuals who just want to try something new and fun, Renaissance Studio is a go-to experience.
โVery challenging pero fulfilling kasi nagkaroon ako ng chance na i-[pitch] mismo ang concept ng business sa mga students,โ said Reina when asked about difficulties faced amid the event. โNaging mahirap lalo na dahil exam week, kinailangan ng dobleng effort para ma-manage namin nang maayos at para makapag-focus kami sa pag-promote ng brand,โ she added.
For Reina, the venture was tiring yet super fulfilling. During the second day of the event, she had already sold out all her prepared Instax films. She mentioned how Renaissance Studio had really captured the curiosity and interest of customers.
Furthermore, she realized the importance of engaging with customers by clearly explaining what her business is all about. Time pressure had taught her how to be patient and more confident in promoting Renaissance Studio.
โFocus on understanding your customers first, listen to what they need, what excites them, and use that to improve your idea,โ said Reina when asked what her advice is to students who plan to start their own business. โA business grows faster when you create something people actually connect with,โ she added.
