‘IT IS ALL HEARSAY’ - Rep. Abante on Impeachment Complaints vs. PBBM
Manila 6th District Representative Benny Abante said impeachment complaints filed against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. lack sufficient basis, insisting the allegations are unsupported by credible evidence.
In an interview on OnePH’s “Sa Totoo Lang,” Abante said he reviewed the charges and found them wanting in both substance and merit. “I read the charges on the sufficiency and substance, wala talaga. Kahit anong gawin mo, wala eh. It is all hearsay,” he said.
Abante added that even if the impeachment complaints had advanced to the House plenary, they would still have no chance of being approved.
His remarks came after the House Committee on Justice dismissed two impeachment complaints filed against the President, including one endorsed by the Makabayan bloc and another filed by Rep. Nisay based on a complaint initiated by De Jesus.
In the complaint associated with Rep. Nisay, 42 committee members voted that it was insufficient in substance, three voted against the motion, and one abstained. Meanwhile, 39 members voted to declare the Masa et al. complaint insufficient in substance, while seven voted to consider it sufficient.
