“And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.”
2 Corinthians 9:8 NLT
I went to sleep late last night and woke up this morning with a really sore neck and an aching back. Moving out of the house was more physically taxing than I remember. (And this came from someone who experienced moving to 3 houses in a year.)
When I got up this morning to do my God When I Wake Up time, I got this verse that perfectly captured what happened.
__
Yesterday, as I went through every section of the house, putting everything into boxes, the truth unfolded right before my very eyes: God has provided generously for my family and me. Even when I thought I lacked, the truth is I did not.
Yes, there were moments when I thought we wouldn’t make it. But looking at everything I have, God didn’t fail to provide for us.
I boxed away 95% of what we own. Most of the things we kept are my children’s, and the ones I kept for myself are just clothes and gifts from my children too 😅 But the furniture, appliances, everything... they’re given to whom God purposed to receive them.
And the God story is, we still have more than enough.
I had multiples of the same thing, and it’s not that I’m a shopaholic. On my birthday last year, I received 5 wallet purses, 5 bags, maybe more.
Just like the story of the 5 loaves and 2 fish, Jesus has multiplied what we had in our hands when we first moved in. They weren’t much, they’re as meager as that boy’s lunch basket in the Bible story. But God. God happened.
“Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 NLT
So yeah, that’s why my body hurts more than the last time we moved; this time we had a lot.
Praise be to God!
