"𝘛𝘢𝘳𝘢, 𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘦?"

This is a line that you may receive as a notification, or perhaps a message you send to a friend after a long day has concluded. But is it really ever about the coffee?

"𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘦?"

But the truth is that it could be anything—a Caramel Macchiato, a Spanish Latte, or a Vanilla Latte—but it is never really about the coffee, because I would still drink an Americano even though Spanish Latte is my favorite, as long as I'm with my favorite company.

Often, when we say, "Tara, kape," it comes after a day that you knew was hard, as a celebration after acing your academic hell week, or as an excuse to sit with your high school friends for hours.

But most of all, maybe it is a way to quietly say, "I don't really need coffee; I just need your company."
