I remember getting my first camera when I was in high school. Nothing fancy- just a simple point and shoot. Back then "pixels" was not a word I was even aware of. It was also the time when cameras faced outwards...meant to capture the beauty of the world- scenes, friends and memories of times that were to pass. It was about precious people, places and events that you wanted to keep close to you. Oh how times have changed. I can feel my age 😅

We got scammed. We got scammed by KZ Cycle Hub. Please be careful. Name on their PayMaya was Kath Almirante.

We were buying bikes for Chloe and Ems. Chloe had saved up for it, some of the money were given to her. Some, she saved up for by doing odd cheres at home. And just like that, it was all gone. After paying, Ems could no longer find their FB page and they were no longer responding in chat.

Any suggestions on what we could do? Ems reported them to FB already. He paid via PayMaya and we are not sure if he can still get the money back. 😔

This big house where Maeve Cafe started. It was home to Lucia's Bed and Breakfast which was a home away from home for many and which exuded this positive vibe that just made you feel welcome and want to stay forever. It was also where we (Ems and Cathy) took on the challenge of learning to cook more than just boiled egg and we seem to have managed to do a pretty job. Not to mention that, over the past years, we also learned to make our food IG-worthy too! 😛 Lucia's was not just an opportunity for us to start our business but an opportunity for us to live a life wherein we could slow down, learn, grow and focus on what was important- family. For Lucille, the owner of Lucia's, and everyone we met during our stay there, we will always be grateful. It saddens us knowing that it will close its doors to guests in two days time and with it, our location at Navy Base Extension will close too. Lucia's will always be Maeve Cafe's first home and will hold a special place in our hearts. It has been a good 4 years. Maeve Cafe will continue to be open at Ili-likha Artist Village at Assumption Road (12nn to 7:30pm, Mon to Sun except Tues). However, we will be taking this weekend off.

Today is Feb 14 again and we have much to be grateful for! We are a husband (Emerson) and wife (Cathy) team who love food- whether we are the ones preparing it or eating it. :) We used to eat everything fried, sweet and over the counter. But since we had our daughter (Chloe Maeve), we decided to steer her away from processed and fast food as much as we could. Still, we are not really into the hard-core, no salt, no sugar, zero calorie food and so we decided to cook food that somewhere in between healthy and yummy-- delightfully filling with a good balance of good taste and nutrition. Sometime 2015, the owner of Lucia's Bed and Breakfast asked us to prepare breakfast for her guests and we have been doing so since then. Since we were not chefs, we put together our favorite dishes and called it a menu. Up until now, we have no specific cuisine in mind but rather it is a compilation of our version of our favorite dishes- all of which we love to cook from scratch. :)
