Open letter to Companies About
Fresh Grads Interview
As fresh grad stupidyante, we step into interviews with hope, determination, and the belief that our best efforts will be recognized. Yet, after an interview the common response we hear is: “We’ll email you” or “We’ll call you”—and then silence. Days pass, weeks even, with no update. Dead silence.
I’ve been asking my fellow graduates who already had their interviews, and when I ask how it went and they answered “sabi tatawag nalang sila” “mag eemail nalang daw ulit” See??
Is it really so difficult to send a simple message saying, “Unfortunately, we won’t be moving forward with your application”? That small act of honesty would mean so much. It would save us from waiting endlessly, from holding on to false hope, and from questioning ourselves in silence.
Andaming dapat may experience? Ngi We are fresh grads—technically, most of us don’t have work experience. That’s exactly why we’re applying: to gain it. Not all of us were working students, but that shouldn’t mean we’re automatically overlooked.
Companies could give us a chance, or at the very least, be direct and transparent.
I admire organizations that are upfront, those that immediately inform applicants if they don’t meet the requirements. That kind of respect shows true professionalism. It aligns with a mission and vision that values people—not just resumes.
Feedback is not just courtesy; it’s growth. Without it, we risk repeating the same mistakes. Silence chips away at self-esteem and confidence. Many graduates lose hope after several companies never call back. We end up wondering, overthinking, and doubting ourselves.
How can we know where we went wrong if no one tells us? We did our best—so where did we fall short? Constructive feedback could guide us, strengthen us, and prepare us for the next opportunity.
To all companies: please remember that behind every application is a person who worked hard, studied for years, and is eager to prove themselves. We don’t ask for guarantees—we ask for honesty, respect, and the chance to learn.
Hirap talaga kapag bored lalo na nakakukot magdamag dahil magdamag din ang ulan.
