It's a golden finish to the season 💛🚢

The Whero has departed the Port of Tauranga carrying more than 1.7 million trays of Zespri SunGold™ Kiwifruit as our final charter vessel of the 2026 New Zealand season.

The Whero is on its way to China and is expected to arrive in Shanghai in the coming weeks.

As the New Zealand season comes to a close, we'd like to thank everyone across the supply chain who has helped deliver another successful season, from our growers and post-harvest teams through to customers and partners around the world, as well as our Zespri team 🥝🌏

A Very Strong El Niño could push dairy breakeven above $9/kgMS, according to our latest economic update.

“Pasture will take the first hit, creating the biggest driver of the additional cost pressure, with national feed expenses modelled to increase from $1.56/kgMS under the baseline scenario to $2.02/kgMS under a Very Strong El Niño.” Mark Storey, Head of Economics at DairyNZ.

Earth Sciences New Zealand has confirmed El Niño conditions are developing in the tropical Pacific, with the event expected to strengthen through spring, peak in early summer and influence New Zealand’s weather into autumn 2027.
