The island’s throwing a month-long w**e party. We’ve set the table. **eMonth

Waiheke Island W**e Month is here: 31 days of the island celebrating what it does best. Vineyards are opening their doors, pouring their best, and inviting you over to see where it all comes from.

We’re joining in properly. All month at the Cellar Door, our Waiheke w**es are on special:

98 points. Two short of total satisfaction.

Our Jagger Pinot Gris 2026 has taken Double Gold at the New Zealand International W**e Show. For the record, that doesn’t happen by chance. The Chief Judge, three Assistant Chief Judges and the three-person Senior Judging team all have to score it gold. Seven judges. Not one dissenting voice.

We’d like to thank the band.

W**emaker Matt Connell. A single vineyard on Clutha Ridge in Central Otago’s Cromwell Basin. Fermented and matured entirely in stainless steel, with two months on light lees. Nothing hiding behind oak. Just the performance.

And what a performance. Honeydew, pear and nectarine up front, with quince and a little baked spice. Citrus and flinty minerality working the room. A lick of residual sweetness to balance the hit of lime zest on the finish.

Opulence and grace, with a little attitude. Which is more or less what we were going for.

It’s pouring at the Cellar Door now.
Come in for a glass, stay for lunch, take a bottle home before word gets around, or if you’re a little far, head to our website to imbibe in Jagger.

Did we mention we’re happy to be back? Because we are. Quite a lot.

Thank you to everyone who turned up and turned it on this weekend. The hens arrived with superpowers, which explains a great deal. Reunions picked up exactly where they left off. Friends and families settled in for long lunches that drifted into snacks and one more song.

DJ HEV held the deck, as HEV does. Nobody was surprised. Everybody danced.

Meanwhile, a small matter of note: our Harry Rosé took gold at the national w**e awards. Only two rosés in the country did. We’re trying to be modest about it. It isn’t going well. Ant reviewed it too and mentioned most of the Harry’s apart from Styles! 🛼

And we’re not done. Some exciting news lands tomorrow, so keep an eye on us.

In the meantime, look at your calendar for Labour Weekend and plan accordingly. Ideally around being here most days of it.

WE’RE BACK. WITH POWER. WITH WATER. AND WITH QUITE A LOT TO TALK ABOUT.

After our slightly more dramatic-than-planned intermission, SOHO is open again.

The w**e is cold. The taps work. The lights are on. The deck is bigger. The garden (and our big deck) have had a glow-up. And frankly, we’re looking rather good.

Harvey Eatery has a new menu. We suggest arriving hungry.

This weekend, we’re coming back properly.

We’ve added a new deck, new shelter for those classic Waiheke four-seasons-in-one-afternoon moments, freshened up the gardens, upped our outdoor games offering and kept the important bits exactly as they should be: the same team, the same energy, the same very good reason to stay for one more glass.

To our founder, chief w**e hustler and formidable creative genius. A woman who can build a brand, write the line and have three more ideas before the rest of us have opened the email.

Her w**e story began working in her dad John’s company. The apple of his eye, she went on to create SOHO using the Carter family vineyards, giving those w**es a world of their own.

And a lot to love beyond them.

The very best mum to Maren. A boss who backs her people. A friend who shows up.

Then there’s that enormous heart. Always room for someone who needs a hand.

Happy birthday, Rach. Here’s to your best year ever, with all the love you give so freely finding its way back to you.

SOHO’s cellar door remains closed while we work to get the power connected.

Huge thanks to our electrician Scotty Niwa and our w**e neighbours, especially Paul Dunleavy, for coming to our aid.

To our guests, our team and chef Sebastian: we’re so sorry this is dragging on. We’re doing everything we can to reopen.

NO POWER. NO WATER. NO SOHO CELLAR DOOR.

Not quite the reopening we had planned.

Due entirely to the actions of others on the island, we’ve been left without power or water and have no choice but to keep the SOHO Cellar Door closed until further notice.

To say we’re upset is an understatement. Our team has poured an enormous amount of heart, energy and hard work into getting this place ready to welcome you back — only to have the decision taken out of our hands.

We’re doing everything we can to get the lights back on, the w**e pouring and SOHO back to being SOHO.

We want to say a massive thank you to all of our amazing contractors who have come to our aid- Mitchell Earthmoving, Niwa Electrical and Vector- what a great bunch of people, the world needs more of you!

Thank you for bearing with us. We’ll keep you posted.

The cellar door is reopening for spring, and we’re marking the occasion the only sensible way: Alisha on the decks from 2-5pm on Saturday, an upgraded weather tight space, a new deck, outdoor games, fresh labels and a very good new menu by Seb at Harvey Eatery.

This International Dog Day, Dusty would like to remind you that our Waiheke Cellar Door reopens on 4 September — and dogs are very much invited.

There’ll be water bowls, grass for zoomies and rewards for good be-haviour.

For the humans: a new menu, bigger deck, pétanque, ping pong, Rolling Stones waterfalls, weather-tight spaces for Waiheke time rain or shine — and fresh new labels on our award-winning w**es.

Because furless mums and dads need enrichment too.
