Delta Community Support Trust Delta's vision is for compassionate, resilient and inclusive community. Mission
Our mission is expressed in our pictorial creed (see below).
(1)

This Christchurch grassroots organisation empowers people to participate fully in community life through social services, community cafes, wellness and educational programmes. Delta is about Community where people experience positive relationships and personal growth, and journey and grow together in all social, mental, physical and spiritual aspects of life. Community where people are empowered t

o fully participate in and contribute to community life. Community that uplifts people who face personal hardship, experiencing disability, isolation or other disadvantage. Our motivation comes from, and is in response to, the love of Jesus Christ, his message of hope and invitation to a new and renewed life, as depicted by the cross,. We seek to express what this means through who we are as an organisation. Who we are and what we Value. We are a motley bunch of people, volunteers, staff, board members, church and non-church goers and hangers-on committed to expressing and living out the values of Empowerment, Relationship, People, Community, Creativity, Inclusiveness, Faith and Holism. This body of people includes those involved with North Avon Baptist Church and Delta Community Church. What we do
We engage in community development through a varied range of services, initiatives and activities carried out through three Service Departments

1. Community Development Services: Personal Advocacy, Counselling & Budget Advice, Food Store (food bank with a difference), Empowerment (personal development and foundational skills) Courses, Community Café (Footprints Café) and Delta Inn community meal, Migrant & Refugee support (including Play Group and Social English Language Classes), Volunteer opportunities/support, Richmond Community Action Network & related initiatives, Delta Community Garden and Craft/support Group.
2. Delta Friendship Link: Friendship linking social & skills groups and one-to-one friendship for people with intellectual and psychiatric disability.
3. The Evergreen Club: Weekday activity programme for vulnerable and isolated elderly, most of whom are living in their own homes, some supported by partners or other family and some living on their own.

Here at Delta we ALWAYS have bread available on the community table. This morning I've spent some time getting inspired about clever ways to turn that bread into interesting and tasty dishes. Thanks to Love Food Hate Waste - New Zealand I'm sharing this recipe. Give it a go and let me know how it was. Have fun experimenting. Better still, let me know if a cooking class where we use bread as a key ingredient would be of interest and I'll pull it together for you. Happy cooking. Sandy

Turn your bread into a deliciously fudgy and moist cake. Perfect for using up stale bread slices or buns. Plus this recipe is also egg-free!

🚨 Community Help Needed 🚨

Satisfy is on the hunt for four straight desks (no corner or L-shaped ones, thanks) to push together back to back and help make the most of our space. Ideally at least two of them to be the same size so things line up neatly. Approx dimensions 1500mm x 750mm. Example pic below.

They don’t need to be pretty. But sturdy, functional and free to a good home is the dream. Every dollar we don’t spend on furniture goes straight back into rescuing good kai! 🍏

Share this post, tag a helpful friend, or message us a photo and rough dimensions. We can easily arrange pick up.

💚 Do your stuff community! 🤞🏼

🎓 Congratulations to our Literacy Through Music Graduates! 🎶

What a wonderful day yesterday celebrating the achievements of our amazing Delta Friendship Link members as they graduated from the Literacy Through Music course with Literacy Aotearoa.

We are incredibly proud of each and every graduate. Throughout the course they embraced new challenges, built confidence, developed their literacy skills through the joy of music, and supported one another every step of the way. Their smiles, determination, and enthusiasm have been truly inspiring.

A huge thank you to Dougie from Literacy Aotearoa for delivering such a meaningful and engaging programme, and to our families, whānau, carers, support workers, volunteers and Delta staff for your ongoing encouragement and support.

Another huge thank you to Roger from The Flooring Centre for supporting such a special occasion with a red carpet!

Congratulations to all of our graduates—you should be so proud of what you have achieved!

Here's to celebrating success, lifelong learning, and the incredible potential within every person.

🚨 SOS, Christchurch! We need a little bit of Hollywood by Thursday morning! 🚨❤️
Our incredible Friendship Link members have worked so hard in their Literacy Through Music course with Literacy Aotearoa, and this Thursday they're graduating! 🎓🎶
They're absolutely fizzing with excitement, and we couldn't be prouder. Each graduate will walk up to receive their certificate to a song they've chosen themselves... and we'd love to make them feel like the superstars they are.
✨ The only thing we're missing? A RED CARPET! ✨
Do you (or someone you know) have a red carpet we could borrow for Thursday?
It doesn't need to be fancy—we just want to create a memorable moment for a very deserving group of graduates.
If you can help, please send us a message.
❤️ Please share this post far and wide! You never know who has a red carpet rolled up in a cupboard just waiting for its big moment.
Help us give our graduates the VIP welcome they deserve! 🌟🎓
