You probably already know Costa Rica produces pretty bloody good coffee. But here’s a quick reality check on just how good.

At the Cup of Excellence, top Costa Rican lots consistently score 87+, with elite micro-lots breaking into the 90s to earn the prestigious Presidential Award. 🏆

For context, 80+ is the official benchmark for specialty coffee. Once you hit the high 80s and 90s, you’re talking about world-class coffee with ridiculously complex flavour profiles. 🤌☕️

That’s why we’re so stoked to source our green beans from Café de Altura de San Ramón.

These photos show the exact high-altitude hillsides and farmers in San Ramón where our coffee is grown and processed. 🌿⛰️ It’s rich volcanic soil, precise processing, and generations of hands-on expertise coming together.

This is where our beans begin their journey, long before they ever land at our roaster here in NZ. 🇳🇿🔥

But TicoBrewed? Still very much happening. ☕️

We’ve been roasting, packing and sending coffee out while trying to keep up with everything else. We just haven’t had much time to shout about it online.

Last TicoBrewed orders are heading out before we hit pause for 6 weeks.

Genuinely wild seeing how many of you have already stocked up - thank you for backing us like this. 🫶

If you haven’t yet, there’s a small window until Friday, end of business, to save yourself from a very unnecessary coffee-related sadness.

After that, we’re off. ✈️

Well… we found Beanardo, our little mascot, in the trees with our passports. 🦥✈️

Which can only mean one thing:
TicoBrewed is heading overseas in two weeks.

We’ll be away until early June, so this is your gentle little nudge to check the coffee stash before it turns into a full-blown crisis.

We’ll be a bit quieter on here, but Beanardo will be causing trouble over in Stories and dropping clues as we go, so follow along and see if you can guess where he’s ended up.
