Fetishism in Sound Fetishism in Sound; de exploratie van geluidsfetisjisme en de geheime wereld van geluid. Wil je een bijdrage leveren? Wie zijn "zij" dan? En dan waarom nu?

In het weekend van 29 en 30 juni 2013 zal op de Hommelstrip in Arnhem een waar Soundfest plaatsvinden. Er komen in ieder geval een audiotour, optredens, een geluidsinstallatie en een DIY Hack workshop maar er is ruimte voor meer. Drop een post en we nemen contact met je op. Fetishism in Sound werk onder andere samen met AMP (Arnhems Muziek Platform), Tijs van Trigt, Snackbar de Roos en AtematicA herzoek Lab. Nog wat achtergrond:

Fetishism in Sound is een project dat de fascinatie van geluiden en het maken van geluid aan de oppervlakte wil brengen. De aanleiding
In en rond Arnhem zijn diverse groepen, projecten en mensen bezig met het maken van geluid, geluidskunst, noise, klankbeelden, electronische muziekinstrumenten, etc. Dit gebeurt soms op een podium of op een (radio)zender maar dikwijls ongezien. Hoewel deze initiatieven een vaan een eigen podium of publiek hebben blijft dit voor de stad al dan niet bewust ondergronds. Het zijn personen die, eenmaal besmet met het virus van het ontdekken en maken van geluid geen weg meer terug kennen in die wereld. Ieder stukje metaal, kapot stuk (batterij bevattend) speelgoed, stukje electronica of tak is een potentieel instrument verscholen; heeft een geheime bovennatuurlijke kracht om een nieuw onontdekt geluid te kunnen maken. En ja dat is één van de betekenissen van Fetisjisme. De periode dat MoBA 2013 Arnhem onderdompelt met Fetishism in Fashion lijkt het ideale moment om het Fetisjisme voor Geluid te manifesteren. Maar ook is 2013 de 100e verjaardag van The Art of Noises, het manifest dat Luigi Russolo schreef over, jawel, geluiden. En dan nog een zijstap: In de eerste Gonzo (circus) van dit jaar is een nieuw muzikaal manifest opgenomen met de titel: "Wij eisen een nieuwe toekomst van muziek, en een muzikale toekomst' Fetishism in Sound wil ook reageren op dit manifest. En eigenlijk willen we geluid maken en beluisteren, onze fetisj voeren zogezegd.

Description for performance:

A dialogue between human and speakers.
Language is learnt but not inherit. It aids the communication between individuals.

CAUSE: The database in dialogue widens the differences among cultures, memories, and species.

RESULT: You are talking, I am responding; You are talking, I am dissociation.

Using delay and feedback, Yuxin grows a dissociated communication with her speakers in this session.

Yuxin Hu栩 calls herself "a noisier." She graduated from ArtEZ University of the Arts. She reinvents herself as an experience experimentalist. Through sound actions, circuit board, handmade raw installation, and free improvisation, she enjoys having conversations with loudspeakers, pots, fans, toothbrush, and whatever happens to resonate nearby—mainly as an excuse to avoid using conventional musical instruments. She founded Heretical Objects.

Workshop

Title: ‘micro - meat - mchn - team – macro’

In this workshop, participants will build simple microphones and speakers from scratch, then attach them to their bodies with clothing or discarded materials. Each person will imagine becoming a daily life machine with one specific function, e.g., an arm rotating like a coffee grinder, a body ticking evenly like a clock, or a human structure transforming into a chair or table, etc,.
No technical experience is required. Come ready to experiment, move, listen, collaborate, and enjoy becoming part of a human-machine sound generator.

This is for: electric chips, tiny speakers, wires, and other materials; the participant can take the "instrument" home after!

is an interdisciplinary artist and designer works primarily in research-based projects through mediums like web, writing, experinmental publication, machines and installation. Her work combines sentimental and humorous elements, blurring the lines between designer and spectator. With a background shaped by limited political and visual freedom, Nai-Syuan navigates identity challenges with a quirky perspective, focusing on information sharing, privacy, post-colonisation, and the relations between humans, countries, and technology. Her current projects use obsolete telecommunication to address policy and disciplinary issues. She founded DuctTape Collective and Frankly Collective.

Titel: ‘micro - meat - mchn - team – macro’

Tijdens deze workshop bouwen deelnemers zelf eenvoudige microfoons en luidsprekers, die ze vervolgens met kleding of afgedankte materialen aan hun lichaam bevestigen. Iedereen stelt zich voor een machine uit het dagelijks leven te worden met één specifieke functie: bijvoorbeeld een arm die ronddraait als een koffiemolen, een lichaam dat gelijkmatig tikt als een klok, of een menselijke vorm die verandert in een stoel of tafel, enzovoort.
Er is geen technische ervaring vereist. Kom met de zin om te experimenteren, te bewegen, te luisteren, samen te werken en te genieten van het opgaan in een geluidsgenerator die bestaat uit mens en machine. |o∵|o |┘∵|┘ c(C(((Cc(c

De voertaal tijdens deze workshop is Engels.

De workshop wordt gegeven door:

Nai-Syuan Ye (葉乃瑄), ook wel bekend als cherrythehuman,
is een interdisciplinair kunstenaar en ontwerper. Ze werkt voornamelijk aan onderzoeksprojecten via media als het web, tekst, experimentele publicaties, machines en installaties. Haar werk combineert sentimentele en humoristische elementen en vervaagt de grens tussen ontwerper en toeschouwer. Met een achtergrond die gevormd is door beperkte politieke en visuele vrijheid, benadert Nai-Syuan vraagstukken rond identiteit vanuit een eigenzinnig perspectief. Ze richt zich daarbij op het delen van informatie, privacy, postkolonialisme en de relaties tussen mensen, landen en technologie. In haar huidige projecten gebruikt ze verouderde telecommunicatietechnieken om beleidsmatige en disciplinaire kwesties aan de orde te stellen. Programmaonderdeel 5 - Fetishism in Sound – Interactieve Meet-Up nr. 36:

Marcel Daelmans – ‘Wandelsysteem’.

“Elke laatste zaterdag van de maand is er een soort van meditatieve wandeling op de akker van Landgoed de Hangar. Vanaf 13:30 is er een introductie en om 14:00 lopen de deelnemers in stilte een bepaald pad. Dat pad is uitgezet of er is geen pad zodat ieder zijn eigen pad kiest of een combinatie van deze twee. Na 2 uur lopen, vertragen en stilstaan komen de deelnemers weer samen om na te bespreken tot 16:30. Tijdens de wandeling is er altijd de mogelijkheid om even van je pad af te wijken en te gaan zitten.

Door op een heel andere manier dan normaal te gaan wandelen raak je een andere laag in jezelf aan. Je gaat je omgeving anders ervaren en kijkt anders naar jezelf. Je gedachten kunnen in de weg gaan zitten en om daar weer los van te komen verleg je je focus weer op je lichaam, je ademhaling en je omgeving.
Iedereen is welkom.

Voor de FIS bijeenkomst van 6 september is er een korte en aangepaste versie van het Wandelsysteem.
Een 20 minuten durende wandeling met een mobiel Smartphone orkest. De wandelaars vormen zelf het orkest, hun Smartphone is hun instrument – men kan verschillende geluidsopnamen die in en rond de Hangar zijn gemaakt afspelen.
Behalve het al aanwezige geluid op de akker zal er aldus ook artificieel geluid te horen zijn dat naar je toe beweegt, van je af of met je mee."

“Every last Saturday of the month, there is a kind of meditative walk on the fields of Landgoed de Hangar. From 13:30 there is an introduction, and at 14:00 the participants walk a specific path in silence. That path is either marked out or there is no path so that everyone chooses their own path, or a combination of the two. After 2 hours of walking, slowing down, and standing still, the participants come together again to debrief until 16:30. During the walk, there is always the opportunity to deviate from your path for a moment and sit down.
By walking in a completely different way than usual, you touch a different layer within yourself. You begin to experience your surroundings differently and look at yourself differently. Your thoughts can get in the way, and to break free from them, you shift your focus back to your body, your breathing, and your surroundings.
Everyone is welcome.

For the FIS Meet=Up on September 6, there is a short and adapted version of the Walking System.
A 20-minute walk with a mobile Smartphone orchestra. The walkers form the orchestra, their smartphone is their instrument – one can play various sound recordings made in and around the Hangar.
In addition to the sound already present in the field, artificial sound will therefore also be heard moving towards you, away from you, or along with you.”
