DAY 26- SALADS

We explored 8 African salads, and I was assigned to plate the Tunisian Slata.

Also, excuse my pronunciation abeg, I’m Nigerian 😂🇳🇬

But the real highlight? None of these salads needed mayonnaise! Ohh chimmmm 😂

Can’t believe we’re already at this point. From the first day of class to actually sitting for our first exams… culinary school is really happening!

Day 22 — Seafood Class 🦐🐟

Today, we explored different seafood options. Linda Ajala took her time to teach us how to identify fresh seafood when purchasing to dressing and preparing them using different cooking techniques.

We made Seafood Paella, Prawn Tempura, Cajun Seafood Boil with Cajun butter sauce, fish fillet, grilled catfish and fried plantain. 🤤

It was a fun, practical class, and I learned a lot about seafood preparation, cooking times and how to get the best flavours and textures from each dish👏🏽

Day 21’s class was a proper meat feast! We made juicy beef burgers, shepherd’s pie, beef kofta skewers, lentil salad, pearl couscous, sautéed mushrooms & vegetables, tenderloin with creamy mashed potatoes and red wine reduction, and T-bone steak served with chimichurri and fried plantain 🙌🏼

From prep to plating, every dish was a whole experience. Culinary school is really doing something to me🥺

Day 20 was such a fun and colourful one! We explored cocktails, refreshing beverages and hors d’oeuvres, learning not just how to prepare them but also the importance of presentation and service.

We made Strawberry Daiquiri, Chapman, Tequila Sunrise,, different types, how they should be presented, and the little details that make them attractive and appetising. From finger foods to beautifully arranged canapés and petit fours, it was a whole new side of culinary service for me.
