BUSINESS OWNERS, YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE THE ONE TALKING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS.
I know this might sound harsh, but hear me out.
As a business owner, you need to stay away from anything that can consistently put you in a bad light with your customers.
I learned this the hard way.
For the first two years of my business, I WAS the customer service. I took orders, answered customers, handled complaints. Everything.
At some point, I couldn’t cope anymore. So I employed people Only for me to discover that most of them had ZERO customer service skills 🤦🏽♀️
At that point, I spoke to a business coach Hajiya Ijioma || Business Strategist || Marketing who advised me to get a virtual assistant from Lagos to train my team specifically on customer relations.
We did the training for about six months & it changed everything.
For the past one year, we haven’t had customer service complaints like we used to.
Does that mean customers don’t get upset with us anymore?
Of course not. Customers will always complain. That’s business.
The difference is that my team has been trained on WHAT TO DO when a customer is unhappy.
They know how to communicate.
They know how to listen.
They know how to de-escalate situations.
They know how to solve problems without making the customer even angrier & that’s the more reason why I could go on vacation for 3 weeks without a single complaint from online customers.
Same thing with phone calls. I HATE picking calls 😂
There is no way I can successfully answer 30–60 customer calls every day without losing my mind So I stopped.
My team handles most of the calls.
I focus on what I’m actually good at, marketing, strategy and overall management. Iyen naa to fomoluwabi 😂
Stop allowing your personality, bad mood or lack of customer service skills become your brand identity.
Protect your brand.
Train your people.
DELEGATE.
