Most Nigerian doctors are still treating high blood pressure in 2026 the way they were taught to treat it in 1996.

But the science has moved forward.

And there is a piece of the story many patients are never told.

One of the biggest drivers of Hypertension today is not just salt, stress, or family history.

It is Insulin resistance.

This is the condition where your cells stop responding properly to insulin, and your body compensates by producing more and more of it.

When insulin stays high for too long, several things begin to happen at the same time.

Your kidneys start holding on to more sodium, which increases blood volume and raises pressure.

Your blood vessels become less flexible because chronic insulin elevation promotes inflammation in the vessel walls.

Your nervous system stays in a constant low-level “on” state, keeping your heart rate and vascular tension elevated.

Your body stores more visceral fat around your organs, and that fat releases inflammatory signals that worsen the problem.

You also begin to lose key minerals like magnesium, which your body needs to relax blood vessels properly.

All of this happens quietly.

For years. Sometimes decades.

Then one day, you are diagnosed with hypertension.

You are placed on medication.

Maybe Amlodipine.
Maybe Losartan.

The numbers improve on paper.

But the underlying issue is still there.

So over time, the dose increases.

Another drug is added.

Then another.

Unnecessary.

Beans already gives you:

â–Șcarbohydrates
â–Șfiber
â–Șsome protein
â–Șsatiety

The:

â–ȘRefined flour.
â–ȘQuick sugar spike.
â–ȘExtra calories.
â–ȘInflammation

Is unwarranted.

Now the meal has changed from loaded to overloaded.

You say:

“I need something to es**rt it.”

But what you’re really doing is training your body for excesses and diseases.

Beans can be eaten on its own.

And if anything, you could pair it with:

â–Șnatural cereal
â–Șanimal protein

But bread?
No now...

That's carb on carb.

The problem is not beans.

But what if the opposite is true?

What if the hours you spend not eating are the only time your body actually gets to fix itself?

This post is the biology.

What happens in your body when you skip breakfast?

Most people have been told it is dangerous.

That you will damage your metabolism.
That your blood sugar will crash.
That you will overeat at lunch.

None of this is supported by what the research has actually been showing for the last fifteen years.

Here is what actually happens.

Around 12 hours after your last meal, your insulin drops to its lowest level of the day.

And when insulin drops, everything changes.

Your body switches from storage mode to repair mode.

It starts cleaning out damaged cells.
It starts using stored body fat for fuel.
Your growth hormone rises.
Your inflammation markers drop.

YOUR FIRST MEAL (11 AM PROTEIN PLATE – 5 MINUTES)

What you need:
3 eggs
Half an onion
1 pepper
A handful of ugu or spinach
Coconut oil or butter
Salt to taste

Steps:

1. Dice the onion and pepper.

2. Heat a small amount of coconut oil or butter in a pan.

3. Add the onions and pepper. Fry for about 2 minutes.

4. Crack the eggs into the pan and scramble until cooked.

5. Add the ugu or spinach in the last 30 seconds. Stir through.

6. Serve immediately.

Important

This is your first meal of the day. Not 7 am. Not 8 am. 11 am.

Your body does not need food the moment you wake up. It needs time to finish the repair work it was doing overnight. Let it finish. Then feed it properly.
